Official 2022 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

Why not 3? I mean I'd it weren't for Brady he'd likely have 3 already. And Brady is almost assuredly retired after this year unless he wants to stick it to Giselle and keep going.

I see the Bills and Chiefs as a toss up. The Bills have essentially replaced the Pats as the top contender against the Chiefs in the AFC. If Bills get knocked out, then they got a more than 50% to make an appearance.
Mahomes lost to the Bengals last year after being up 21-3. It is clear he has real issues with Bienimy (sp?). I just think he is too helter skelter to play at the same level consistently he did the first 2 years of his career. And the AFC is really stacked. A team like Miami could easily take him out this year. I do think he has a chance at winning another ring maybe but he has already lost Hill and there will be more causalities as his mammoth contract continues to eat cap space.

BB punted away his chance at being the Goat coach by getting rid of Brady and surrounding him with garbage talent in his last year. It was painful watching the Bucs yesterday. I was wishing it was Brady/Evans/Godwin playing for the Pats. The Pats use to be so good at just winning.
BB punted away 3+ years of championship football that Brady had left so he could "reset" the team for the last 3 years. And look where we are now, in the basement with our starting and back up QBs injured YET so many on the main board make fun of Alex and yet Brady never misses time.

Actually Mahomes contract is starting to not look so bad now. He is the 5th highest paid QB and when they get into cap difficulty, they will just keep on restructuring until some of that cap hit is taken after Mahomes retires.

At the end of the reg season, you just have to look at the top 3 QB in each conference and it's almost a guarantee that 1 of the 3 is in the SB. And yes Stafford with Kupp and Mcvay was the 3rd best QB in the NFC last year.

In the AFC, it's Mahomes, Allen, and then whoever else is playing good that year.

Rodgers still getting the Ws though. But he is such a playoff choker, you almost have to cross out the Packers from being a contender to make the SB.

Much depends on how they draft. Kelce is really up there and they already lost Hill because of his contract demands. Their defense is still atrocious. I agree that the is on the top QBs but he is not able to just carry it like he did his first two years. 3 SB is a big ask given only 4 QBs have ever won that many in their careers. I also really don't trust Reid at all. He has shown to be a pretty awful coach in big games.

Brady is still playing at such a high level. It is a shame he was missing Evans for the GB game.

If Evans played last week the Bucs win. Simple as that.

Anyway Mahomes biggest issue going forward record/legacy wise is while he’s the best QB in the league he faces a log jam of other elite QBs all over the conference combined with only one playoff bye. And soon enough it’ll be zero byes whenever they expand the playoffs again. So it’s likely a 3 game gauntlet to get to the SB every season for all but one team who gets the bye.

I think Brady has always made it seem so easy to win SBs that we always think the next talented QB is going to win a whole bunch.

Did you hear Chris last night continually attribute the Super Bowl 55 beat down to Mahomes poor wittle toe? ************ what a joke.
It was ridiculous considering Mahomes ran around almost 100 yards sideways and backwards in that SB. That was one of the best defensive line performances in SB history.

The play calling is atrocious, especially on first down.
Yep really tired of seeing every first down snap a power run up the rt side behind Wirfs and Mason.

It's the most predictable play call and gets 1 yard every time

Who's next for the #94 receiver to catch a TD from Brady? Julio, Otton, Kieft, White? It will be cool if he gets to 100.

It's ridiculous that the only time they had White QB spy Mahomes it worked perfectly.

It was a bad defensive game plan. They dared Mahomes to run out wide with zero pressure which plays directly to his strengths and he abused them for that dumb decision

It was a wonder seeing Andy Reid work his magic with Mahomes. They are both aggressive and creative. They are a good fit. It got me to wondering whether he might be viewed in a higher regard than BB if he can continue to have this level of success for let's say another 5 years? How about 10 years? And 2 SBs.
No, Belicheck is miles ahead of Reid when it comes to situational awareness. No reason to downplay Bill because he was schmuck in handling Brady

Someone needs to hit Mahomes when he fakes to pass and keeps running. Defenders are scared of getting a flag but until someone hits him good he'll keep doing that(not wishing injury obviously)

“We just blew a gasket today.” The Bucs’ defensive front was accountable for Sunday’s 41-31 loss to the Chiefs, calling the effort “sickening.” What went wrong after a solid first three games:

Rest assured, Bucs’ defensive front wasn’t happy at all with Sunday’s showing, giving up 189 rushing yards and 12 third-down conversions. 41 points is the most allowed since Todd Bowles arrived in 2019. Here’s what Vita Vea had to say:

Many bad claims about last night are true, including the above. The DL has a couple of problems. One problem is that Hicks is on the shelf. The other problem, of more long term concern, is that the DEs aren't doing their job.

What will help Bucs defense rebound is the schedule. Last three offenses they faced are all top 10 in total offense -- Chiefs 5th, Packers 6th, Saints 9th. Next three they face ... aren't. Falcons 15th, Steelers 30th, Panthers 32nd. Should help them get back on track.

One thing Bucs will face Sunday vs. Falcons is a solid run game -- Atlanta ranks fourth in NFL at 168 rushing yards per game. Cordarrelle Patterson has 340 yards, averaging 5.9 per carry. Bottom-five passing attack, but their run game is why they're 2-2, same record as Bucs.

Bucs had 3 total rushing yards Sunday vs. Chiefs, second-lowest total in team history. Only game worse? 1989 Tampa Bay loss to Washington that included an interception by ... Todd Bowles.
