yes bc he has tm MJ10!

So a kind of a theme has been floating around several threads. That is that this all time great or that all time great had some struggles is their first rew years just like our guy is now. Therefore our guy seems to be on the same kind of path. Yes, that proves a few struggles in the early years doesn't necessarily mean a bust career. But how many actually do wind up all time greats? Not many. I remember a Bills fan trying to argue how JP losman was on the same pathe as Tom Brady

Totally agree with this perspective. The basic point is that it is too early to know what Mac will become. There is not enough evidence to declare him a bust or project him to be a legend until he has more time. In addition to game to game results, how he handles injuries is an important measuring stick.

Posts suggesting Timmy was once human are verboten, you should really know better.

Your profile has been flagged for hate speech.
POst suggests that he is trying to say Mac will be Brady because Brady struggled in a game 20 years ago, which might be the most stupid argument in NFL history. There are way way way more QB's that struggle that do not turn into Tom Brady than do, so trying to use that as a reason is stupid.

I knew the knights of Timmy would arrive to protect the sacred cow from imagined attacks.

How about the large majority of rookies (insert any name here), never mind QB’s, develop into pros their first few years in this league… have growing pains.

You were probably a kid when Timmy arrived. I know you remember his arrival being heralded by a symphony of angel’s trumpets and he came into his first start throwing for 400 yards and 3 TD’s per game… but believe it or not he actually needed a fair amount of development. He had a full season to develop before being asked to start… not sure he would have been as successful at 211 pounds with a "weak arm" as a rookie.

Luckily he went to the right situation, or we wouldn't have the legend of Timmy to talk about.

Love the mental gymnastics around here to make young Brady look bad so Mac Jones looks better.
Nah young Brady got good-ish fast and got great later. In the early dynasty, he just had "intangible" "it factors" and gave Madden goosebumps. In that first Super Bowl he did great on the biggest stage, but not for being the focus of everything, for game managing until he had to play a few moments of "great." He threw one TD that day. It was always a heavy lift to establish how his good (and extremely consistent) but not great play led to the results that it did... in the beginning.

But as many here basically say, they called Brady crappy, and now they call him the GOAT. However, not every QB called crappy is subsequently called the GOAT.

It's an extension of the old saying, "They laughed at Copernicus, but they also laughed at Bozo the Clown." Here's hoping Mac Jones is a little closer to Copernicus than Bozo in this analogy.

I'll always believe that the 3 pass game in Buffalo destroyed Mac's OROY case all by itself last year.

Yes, but he also would've easily won had he had better games against Buffalo, Miami and Indy and the team not going downhill losing to all 3 which would've given them the #1 seed winning 2 out of those 3.

Hard to believe we were in contention for that last year...the wheels came off close to the end though.

They should've beaten an inferior Indy team despite Taylor running wild. Mac didn't play well. Buffalo was just a better team and showed the wind game was a fluke where Mac again couldn't keep up. Miami had no business beating them at the end of the year, but Miami is showing they own NE right now. Buffalo finished them off in the Wild Card game.

If that happened I think the voting would have been a lot closer at least. Just think that one game demonstrated on national tv that the Patriots literally didn't even need a passing offense to win a game. By contrast the Bengals don't come close to the SB last year without Chase.

Mac lost the race right there IMO.

And they could've lost that game as Buffalo was driving for a game winning TD late. There was no reason they couldn't have thrown some quick screens or short passes. Bill would've been burned at the stake had they lost.

Maybe it was for the best. Buffalo probably blows us out in normal weather conditions. Mac might have thrown some INT trying to keep up. Will never know either way.

So his other body of work would have overcame Jamar Chase’s 1500 yard receiving season with a near 300 yard game and some insane highlight reels?

Yeahhh... what everybody else said. That game was known to everybody, and they also knew we weren't going in to the snow tornado and lighting it up through what we'll generously call the "air." If he had regular 3-TD games etc. he'd have taken it. He didn't. He had a fantastic rookie year, which for quarterbacks, usually means a "meh" year.

The fact that this thread was made about TO tells the whole story.

Nobody doubted that Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, Wilson, Herbert, Burrows, was the guy.

In 2021 TO rode the Pats running game and defense to the post season. He looked like Montana vs awful teams like JAX and the Jets. When the Pats defense started to go South, TO could not deliver.

His throwing arm is weak sauce.
