Game Day Thread Official Post Game Thread- Pats beat the Steelers

THIS IS OUR LIVE GAME DAY THREAD:

This is where we gather to follow things on Game Day. Obviously, emotions tend to be high so if anyone gets a little crazy, the use of the “Mute” button is encouraged on anyone who may be annoying to you to control your experience and to allow the moderators to also enjoy the game.

At the same time, please take a deep breath before over-reacting for the sake of making this a pleasant experience for everyone.

Some Cole Strange love: He seemed to have really played well yesterday!!

He looked Mankins like yesterday. It is only one game. But if this is the player the Pats are going to get for his career, he was worth a first round pick. But one game is not a season and certainly not a career.

A little off topic: I listened to Toucher and Rich this morning.

Holy cow, the idiocy. They don't even know former Patriot players and they say the most idiotic things. I don't live in Boston, I picked up the broadcast on my Google Home device.

If this is what Boston fans get to hear regularly, I guess it's no surprise that a portion of the fanbase is totally deranged.
Isn't Toucher a dirty Jets fan? From my memory he knows a little about sports but overall dumb and sounds drunk all the time, and rarely funny.. Rich I like better but only pretends to know/care about the teams for work imo, but his content is decent

I miss Adolfo

Good W by the Pats, lots to work on

Excellent coverage by Judon on that 3rd & 2 play to Najee Harris deep into the 4th. Could’ve gotten his head around to make it easier on the refs (just in case) but he made a play on the ball, so no harm; no foul.

Jonnu Stiff with the goose egg yesterday. What a bust he’s been.
Henry was better than Jonnu last year. They both have been mostly invisible this year. But in both games I think we just missed Jonnu on a few plays that could have been decent to big gains and I feel like it might come around for Jonnu soon.

I don't know if Henry has been blocking more or what but the connection he and Mac had last year has not been there this year. And through 2 games that seems more concerning to me.

Agreed.

My reactions:

#1: I saw the OL give Mac plenty of pass protection last week. I saw them give him even more this week. The OL was on track to get an A+ from me but they did have 3 false starts. That being said, we're seeing a transition from the run blocking OL of the last 4 years to a pass protection unit. I'm glad to see it. There is no more mystery as to what they were dong with this OL in terms of personnel.

#2: Agree with Ashley--all our receivers had good games except for Parker. Meyers is an unsung MVP.

#3: the D was strong against the run, and they did what we expect. Glad to see Peppers get in there but I'm worried about Dugger's knee. He's our X-Factor.

#4: What in the world on those 2 holding calls late in the game? Both negated big first downs. Andrews sat on his guy, not a hold. And how does a back judge throw a flag on Meyers when there's a ref 2 feet away with his eyes trained on Meyers? Ridiculous.

#5: Matt Patricia has gotten a lot of the focus early, but I'm training my eyes on Joe Judge from here on. Mac badly needs a QB coach. His mechanics are horrible. When he maintains his mechanics and steps into the throw, it's a nice ball, good velocity, accurate. So often he's throwing off his back foot, with his shoulders square to the goalposts. He has ridiculously bad mechanics. This is now a major concern.

Mac is just a second year player, so I trust he will get there. He's still in the growth stage.

Or how about the throw to Parker where the defender clearly hand the neck of his jersey and kept Parker from getting back to the ball, but no call.

This was supposed to be a point of emphasis, but, it's being ignored..

Like those three WRs with Thornton hopefully back week 5 or 6. Parker failed to make any impact this week or last. He now has to fight and claw his way back onto the field but Bourne should replace him in 3 WR sets.
To be fair, Parker DID make an impact in both games. If he was still wearing a Phins jersey, he would have drawn the DPI calls in both games. Last week, it would have nullified an interception and this week, it would have resulted in a 30+ yard play and a first down.

QB as a high school junior goes to state finals, as a senior wins state finals. At Alabama won the national championship. Now he needs Joe Judge to remind him to set his feet and not throw terrible passes. Was he only able to do those things last year because Josh whispered in his ear? What happened to the QB guru Tom House over the winter, did he confuse Mac.? Well if that's what's required, I hope Joe Judge gives him both barrels.

I think it's more like Joe Judge needs to find something to ***** about.

Yes, lets not put him in Canton yet
