Scarnecchia: new offensive line scheme not written in stone

"Sometimes it felt like Bill would get an idea and it would be like we were running our heads into a brick wall," said Ted Johnson.

Ted Johnson still has a hair across his rear end about Belichick. So I take nothing he says when it comes to critiquing Belichick as anything but spiteful rhetoric.

How many teams imement a true (modern) FB, especially as a (modernly) traditional FB such as Devlin/Johnson?

Side note: trying to specify what is "traditional" as an FB is really annoying given the sheer amount of directions that the position has been pulled.

I feel that one of the reasons why SF's offense has been productive the past 3-4 years has been the presence of Kyle Justczyk, a hybrid FB/TE who can be placed anywhere along the offensive backfield & LOS and who can succeed in anything from leading a RB into the pile during a short-yardage situation, to out-running his coverage on a wheel route... When he's on the field, the defense still doesn't know if the next play's a run or pass... That's the type of FB I want to see here also; but right now we don't have either type, and I'm not sure if this OL can consistently open holes for our RBs without one of them.

Good point about Justczyk. He's a different type of player but during closed practices with no camera, Unfiltered and other reporters have specifically mentioned they have been using Jonnu in some interesting ways that might be more then jet sweeps. Maybe they have similar designs as the 49ers....IDK.

Jonnu might be our 3rd-Down RB on Sunday...

He is more an h back than a FB in that offense.
