I don't hate him. He is a good player. Thanks for the video - that was great. A common criticism of N'Keal is that he could not create separation against man coverage - LJH can't either. He might be great, due to his height, in zone coverage, but I have a hard time seeing us keeping a player that can only play in the middle against zone defenses. Nixon was running a different route and everyone, Carolina and Nixon, knew that it was highly unlikely that Zappe was going to throw a deep out on the sideline (Zappe has to work on that throw - see his Pick 6 - Carolina had already jumped the route and was waiting on the ball because it was so slow getting there). Nixon made his cut based on his coverage, as did LJH, not based on their relative speed. Watch it again.

We redid our whole defense because it was too slow. Now Patsfans' posters are advocating to add a WR much slower than N'Keal? Really? I am shocked.
I'd waaayyyy prefer Nixon/Wilkerson over Humphrey because I usually have speed goggles. Just thought it was interesting that in that one particular ~5-7yd race (the video), LJH (Mr. 4.75! 40) was the fastest (over Nixon/Hammond).

Too bad Nixon dropped his TD opportunity. Tough coverage, but that would've gotten him closer to a lock.

Slightly OT but is it possible to have worst commercials than those run by NFL network during these preseason games? My personal favorite absurdity was the "goat" commercial trying to sell a Colorado sports channel to Patriots fans...

Agreed. Not a well thrown ball, but Parker probably catches it. I guess that is the difference between a 1st rounder or 7th rounder. Too bad he dropped it.

Riding Belichick’s coat tails

He was a offensive grad assistant coach at Syracuse who only became an nfl coach because Belichick liked his high IQ

He went to Detroit and was an epic disaster
Everybody who goes to Detroit becomes an epic disaster.

Think about a few things. Humphrey was sitting at home when we signed him in June. Why? Because he is very slow. Really tall and has great hands, but very slow. So last night LJH looked good against 1) backups, 2) almost exclusively zone coverage, and 3) with a QB (Zappe) that can barely throw a pass to the sidelines (did you notice Zappe's pick 6???? ;)). When does a slow WR excel? In zone coverage. When does a slow WR fail? In man coverage. Fans thought N'Keal had little separation - wait until you see LJH trying to separate in man coverage . And Zappe excels at throwing the ball in the middle of the field. So against backups in zone coverage with a QB that throws in the middle of the field, LJH looked good. I agree. This is the definition of a "pre-season superstar".

News Flash: I used to think you knew something about football.

I hope you're not including Thornton & Kendrick Bourne on your depth chart, because BoneyT's already hors de combat and I now fear that there's indeed something afoot inside the Bourne Mysterium...

So that leaves us Parker, Agholor, Meyers and...? Not Wilkerson now either, so it all of a sudden leaves us with LJ & Tricky Tre as our #5/4 - 4/5 WRs... LJ's on the 53 until I hear more positive news on those other three dudes....

Sadly, Mr. 1st Rounder had a drop as well on a relatively easier ball.

Interesting that the Pats were the 2nd best team in terms of Drop% (3.0%) last year (to GB's 2.5%). Bills were 5.5% and Rams were 5.0% as reference (source PFRef). I think the different sites might have their own Drop stats, as the borderline ones are pretty subjective.

Previous Pats years Drop%:
2018 4.4%
2019 5.5%
2020 4.3%

You think SloJuan is slow. Have you watched Lil'Flash run? LJH is on your 53? We would play Montgomery at WR before LJH would make the team. We would play Asiasi inline and kick Henry or Smith outside before LJH plays. If we have your new favorite player, Lil'Flash, on the field we would get rightly fined for tanking by the NYFL.

At this point I'm starting to think Bill might use Wilkerson's head injury as a reason to keep him on IR. He'll carry Wilk on the 53 as an extra WR then IR him and re-sign a player at another position to fill the final roster spot. Something like:

Parker - Agholor - Meyers - Thornton - Humphrey - Wilkerson
Bourne traded
IR Wilkerson after waivers clear

Then you can carry 5 WRs and have Wilkerson available after a few weeks if you sustain an injury to your WR group. Also probably try to get Nixon to the PS.
I thought I saw in some other thread that the only way to come back from IR is to be on the 53 at the start of or during the season, players who go on it in preseason are out for the season. Is that not true?

That’s what my post is trying to say, sorry if it was unclear. Carry Wilkerson on the initial 53, then IR him so that he can return later.

It’s correct. Anyone put on IR now is done for the year, barring an injury settlement and re-signing later.

I was disappointed in Mac. Arm mechanics look the same which I'm not a fan of. Aside from the Agholor throw which some would pick apart (rainbow), he didn't look good. Missed an easy Parker throw, Myers and one on the run which were all fairly short passes.

I hope that this is not the case.

If it is, then youll see more of how Buffalo plays Mac overloading the box and making him earn every inch of his short passing game..

The ball was under thrown. Nixon has to slow down and go back for the ball.

The DB had a play on the ball if he didnt fall down.

Also forgot to add I saw zero improved zip on those short-intermediate passes.

The Nixon non TD was under thrown. There is a video blaming Nixon when he had to slow down and go back for the ball.

There was plenty of endzone to lead Nixon ahead. That way the Panther DB could make no play other than tackle Nixon for PI.

I don't remember Mac being in the game for this. I can't find any video's on YouTube on this.
