You keep saying that "guard wasn't the biggest need". You don't understand that what YOU feel is the biggest need doesn't matter a damn to the Patriots. What matters is what the Patriots viewed their needs.

Sorting out my feelings on this pick while I was at work today I had a couple of things that came up. I still don’t like the pick and question if it was the best use of resources. That said I defer to BB having more info than I do, and while I disagree with his decision, I don’t question his judgement that the player matches a need And he wouldn’t have been around at a later pick. I, and 95% of the people talking crap, just do not have the info or experience to make any kind of comments about that.

Moving on to the player and what he brings. I had no idea who he was so I went to watch some highlights. Mostly from the senior bowl and the very first thing that pops off the tape is this guy is nasty. He likes to hit and will fight thru the whistle and a little beyond. I think every O line needs a guy like this, one of the lasting images I have of Mankins is every time a defender hit Brady with a little extra Mankins was in his face and on the next play planting his ass into the ground. I want the guy who if you are on the field with him you are worried he might pull a knife on you cuz he is kinda crazy. Mac got a lot of extra, and violent hits last year. Part of being a rookie, and IMO because the pats didn’t have this kind of enforcer.

One other thought I had with the trade down, which I was a huge fan of, was it gives them the ammo to really move around and get prospects they love. If they can find trade partners I could see packaging a 3rd, 4th, and 6th twice to get extra 2nds. Think of the infusion on the defense that could be added with a 2nd round DT, LB, and CB. I’m not a fan of the only pick we have seen so far but the way BB has run the draft so far is a masterclass and I am optimistic we are all going to be much much happier after tonight.

No. Not everyone. Because you don't have the first clue what teams are thinking in regards to Woolen. And no. Neither do I. That's the point. Especially since it's come out about how teams viewed Strange higher than the "Draftnicks".

Show me an article on Woolen's experience and skillset please.

Every thing written about him is that he's an athletic freak with practically little experience at the position. He converted from WR during the Covid year and then UTSA didn't even have a full schedule.

Effectively this guy has one year at the position.

Stingley just went 3rd overall. How many years did he have as a starter?
How many years did Mac Jones have as a starter when the Pats drafted him?
How many GAMES did Tom Brady have as a starter in Michigan?

The whole "he's got only a year at the position" argument for Woolen doesn't hold up very well when you look at other players who have had as much or less experience than him and have succeeded.

Well Watson is not a slot receiver, but I am comfortable saying if healthy he will be a far better player because of his superior size & speed.

When Watson catches the ball, his legs don’t stop like Meyers.

Let’s look at who has a better YAC this year.

I'm usually pretty negative. So much so that many have called me lousy and even a jets troll. However i don't think it's that bad of a pick. Early? Maybe. Strange? Well by definition.

I remember reading his profile and thinking he sounds like a pats type of guard. Like that guard we lost to KC, McThuney. AND I'm convinced he CAN play LT and do a credible job at it!

Strange is not an LT. He projects as a guard for the Patriots. But in fact a lot of teams were talking with Strange with the idea of converting him to Center. Most teams, outside the Patriots, had him graded as a 3rd round or later prospect though.

If Strange can do a good job from day 1, well he will fill that need at G that BB created by trading away Shaq Mason. Gain a 5th, spend a 1st to fill the hole you just made? Ok BB, let's see if your gambit pays off.
