2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

If the guard is to start immediately I worry about Green with 20 bench press reps. Too few to play in the NFL 1st year I believe - he needs to bulk up. Parham is better at 25 reps, not bad for a guard. Z Johnson at 32 reps is a beast and that is why he stands out clearly above the others, raw strength, and 2022 Reese’s Senior Bowl Practice Player of the Week. I get the impression that you think Zion, Green, and Parham are in the same tier, I disagree, Zion is a beast and clearly a step above the others.

BP reps dont play.
Tell me what tape shows what you are stating.
But thanks for reminding me . i forgot to add this tape on Parham..

Would anybody be upset if bb took Travis jones at 21?
After our performance against the run the last couple years…

BP reps indicate strength. The 40 does not play, the 3cone does not play, etc. Green simply is not strong enough to start Y1 in the NFL and take on experienced bulked up DT.

Dax Hill has tape. Go watch it.
Watched some video. Saw little to none of Hill on the outside or in man coverage. He’s a real good safety project. But, I saw little that tells me with any certainty Hill could be lined up on the nose of a receiver and be able to cover that receiver down the field without help.

There are guys in this draft who have shown that capability against good competition. That’s what the Patriots need as, yes they’ll be a primarily zone team on early downs like after last season’s transition. But, why would we expect them not to be heavily man on 3rd down as they were last season. The Patriots need corners who can effectively play man when needed to do so.

I try not to get to attached to this player or that player at this point because it just sets you up for disappointment. All I’m looking for from the Patriots, when they pick, is that their selections make sense to me, or that I can come come to make sense of them based on the attributes of the player and the needs of the team.

Selecting a safety with limited outside experience and converting him to CB with man coverage responsibilities makes less sense than just selecting an experienced outside corner who’s already shown an aptitude for playing man coverage. That’s just my opinion.

It depends if Wyatt is still on the board I know Pats fans are all in love with Davis. In my opinion Wyatt and Travis Jones are better rushers from the position both are Unblockable at times. To your question Travis Jones is not the 21st ranked player in this Draft.

I wouldn't be happy with a OL-man in the First any other Round but. In our last Game the Defense was the Problem also we are paying our current Tackles even though I don't like one of them very well. The only way I would accept a First Rounder at that position is if we are moving on immediately from Wynn via a Draft day Trade. That said I would be shocked if any Team wants him at his current price given his Fragility but stranger things have happened.

After seeing Metchie's injury history, he's off my board.

Well said my thoughts too Dax Hill is a great Safety if we are Drafting him exclusively for that position. But I don't get the automatic CB conversion/translation. I remember Tebucky Jones years ago how did that conversion work out?? Even though we hope it doesn't always happen McCourty is another example. Love the pick as a FS not as CB.

That would be the most underwhelming first overall pick in years.

Protecting your franchise QB might be underwhelming in April but in December in a game with playoffs or the division on the line it isn't.

How is Travon Walker going to protect Trevor Lawrence?

That was my fear…that his skills may not translate to a man corner. Pass.

Your post came off to me like you were responding to people talking about OL. I read it too quick thought you meant first pick for the Pats

At this point I'd be happy with OL (zion johnson, trevor penning, kenyon green); WR (williams, olave, burks); EDGE (karlaftis); CB (McDuffie, Booth, Hill); or LB (Dean, Lloyd).

Interesting that I keep seeing Karlaftis dropping in the mock drafts. A month ago he was a top 10 pick for sure.
