2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

I didn’t mention his average at all or his team’s crappy offense - I even noted that his hang time wasn’t good enough.

Jfc, you’re so ready to lash out, you don’t even know who you’re arguing with.
Seriously. You're the one touting the fact that you have Ariaza as the #150 pick in all your mock drafts. Why are you putting him there unless you want to dump Bailey? For S&Gs? NO. It's because you're enamored with what Ariaza did. Because you clearly think he'll be able to duplicate his success if he ha to do it for New England.

And please don't try and act like you haven't mentioned Ariaza's stats previously. Just because Borisman was the one who'd done it recently doesn't mean you haven't done it previously.

BTW, If I was "lashing out" I'd have proceeded to use all sorts of colorful nouns to describe you. You're the one who got his panties in a wad because I gave you an "UGH" and claimed I was giving "Silly Snark" because you posted something that was, imho, completely ridiculous.

Who are the top 5 worst picks of the bb era?

1.) Easley
2.) harry
3.) slowjuan
4.) richards
5.) Dawson

Talk about the anti murderers row!
2018 draft - Sony. He is an after thought with the Rams. The Pats passed on Nick Chubb to get Sony.
2018 draft- Wynn is still around, but at times you must wonder why that is.
2017 draft - Derek Rivers. Yeah, from the 3rd round, but you didnt have many picks to get a player. At least Wise worked out.

2020 draft - Asaisi and Keene.

This is exactly what Im talking about with WR too. Because of piss poor drafting NE had tp go out and pay high dollar for Henry and Smith. If Asaisi and Keene had worked out they would be on rookie deals saving cap space.

Bill doesn’t draft Penny state players for some reason but Dotson would be incredible value in the second.
Because they’ve received bad coaching. If the team only played up to its recruiting ratings…

I’m catching up on McGinn’s articles after seeing the link to his new site in the IDL thread. It’s interesting that none of the 17 scouts included Raimann in their top 6 OL, with 12 other guys receiving votes. Peter King had the Pats taking Raimann at 21 in his mock draft today over Tyler Smith, who McGinn's scouts preferred significantly more.

It has been more of a QB problem than anything. They can't hit on their QBs. The actual players elsewhere are fine. They have a lot of guys producing in the pros at many positions.

Were you born this big an a-hole or do you have to practice at it?

Please show me where I've mentioned Ariaza's stats (other than his lack of hang time, which he's apparently working on) or kindly STFU. Because I haven't. Nor have I posted "WOW!!!!!" videos, nor any of the hype rah-rahs surrounding him that mean nothing to me.

Bailey's due for $4 million this year. If they don't work it out, that's a lot for a punter. BB's moved on from punters before for cost reasons - repeatedly.

Ariaza is, reportedly, a really good punter prospect and easily the best in this class. He's also left-footed, which BB likes. He also does kick-offs, which, with Folk, is necessary. IF, ONLY IF (got that, or do I need to BOLD it and increase font size for you?), they can't work something out with Bailey, I can see them taking Ariaza at 150. That is a sweet spot where BB has often gone for ST specialists, including Bailey at 163 a few years ago. The current long-snapper was picked at 166, ffs.

My preference going into any draft is to have capable vets in as many places as possible so that you can be free to take what you consider BPA (Best PROSPECT Available) instead of urgently needing to fill a slot. Signing Parker, for example, takes the heat off NEEDING to grab a day 1 WR.
Hoyer on cheap money for a couple of years means they don't need to grab a back-up QB unless they like one. Had they signed (or if they plan to sign) Hicks and/or Flowers would make me think they can focus on the second or third level more because the DL would be okay.

My mocks aren't wish-lists. They're predictions based mostly on the leads I get from BCG's board.

So for Ariaza, it's pretty simple: I don't see BB paying Bailey $4m unless he has no options. I EXPECT that they'll come to a mutually beneficial deal to keep him here for the next few years. I EXPECT that they've already had some conversations with him about it, and know where they stand. If nothing's in the works and Ariaza's there at 150, I EXPECT they'll take him.

If you find that reasoning "ridiculous," then bully for you.

We have an all-pro punter on our roster that was dealing with an injury and protection problems in 2021. I hope his contract gets tweaked and he sticks around for many more years.

The how many QBs will go before we pick thing is interesting to me.

For the Patriots, I think they need 2-3 QBs to go before their pick in order for a top prospect to slip to them ( Davis, Olave, Williams)

Last year was the only draft in the last 20, where the Pats had to worry about what QBs would be chosen before them in the first round. For the previous 20 years, it was just another player that the Pats weren't going to draft coming off the board, leaving the Pats with a better chance for the position player they needed.

Luckily for the Pats nobody thought Jones would still be around at 15. The Pats got their QB, didn't have to expend any additional draft capital to land him.

Now the Pats can sit back again, and hope that teams reach for QBs and leave better players for the Pats.

How about the trade up last year to grab Barmore? I think that one turned out pretty good, don't you?

I would've insisted that Cinci take a 4th & a later pick; otherwise I would've taken my business to the Panthers at #39...

There's also the sayings about stopped clocks & blind squirrels...

Right twice a day and the other finds a nut every once in a while.
