BB likes Harris and he has money under the cap next year to pay him. Provides 3 years of stability. I think they are looking for James White replacement. My guess is JJ is having trouble picking up the system. I think the prospect they brought in was a running back and wide recriver - James White type.

He seems to like the losing way then, because outside of his Belichick years when he was doing things like shutting down a 33ppg offense to 3 points in the Super Bowl, he had an extended career of never making the playoffs with the Bills, followed by a year with the putrid Panthers. I think they win the division. Not sold on TN right now. The window for teams leaning on a superstar running back is typically very low, and Ryan is better than Tannehill.

Speed was a big problem with the run defense last year. It wasn't so much that RBs were bouncing off guys and picking up 5-10 more yards 9although that happened at times). It was more that defenders weren't even in position to make the tackle in a lot of cases. Smaller and faster might be a bigger fix for the run defense than you might think. A lot of times we saw RBs pick up 10-15 yards or even 20-30 yards before they were even touched.

You can pick up Clelin Ferrell who is younger, faster, sets the edge and has 35 QB pressure the last two years. The Raiders wanted him as rusher. He is more run. Watch his tape against us.
But the Raiders counted sacks. BB counts pressures. I'd take him over any we can get in pick #21. Former first rounder can be had for a late pick.....or???? Agholor. He and Carr combined for 900 yards and 8 TDs. Yes they have been open to moving him.

Barmore was only a rookie. His rookie season compared to a lot of good to great DTs in the league are pretty comparable. He was far better than Wilfork was his rookie season. He probably will never be Vita good. But he has the potential to be a top DT in the league and very disruptive and a guy teams have to game plan for.

Barmore and Vea/Wilfork, due to their different body structures, have different roles at DT.

I agree with all that but I think Barmore is a DE, and not a DT, on the DL. We need a DT to take on the opposing center AND guard to plug the middle. Pass rushing DE, like Barmore, is secondary because we have Barmore who worked out very well and was worth the tradeup. This year it is DT with guys like Davis and Jones, not Wyatt who is a Barmore clone. Wyatt early plus a DT later in R3 or R4 is OK too, if there is a solid DT that late. We have Godchaux and Guy who are serviceable if we had a big DT.

It’s tough to get a definitive answer, but from what I could find, Pats actually do run a variation of the 3-4. In fact, each week their defense lineups are introduced as a 3-4.

“Belichick does run an odd front but opts instead for his “Base” front (what you may hear called the “Okie” front in other football parlance), with two defensive tackles outside of the tackles and a nose tackle.”

“What New England wants to do with that is hide the “rotation” of the safeties (which one is rolling down) and the “reduction” of the front (which outside linebacker is rushing, and which defensive tackle is slanting down inside of the offensive tackle).”

He played 17 games last season, had 6 sacks, 7 tackles for a loss, was third on the team in QB Hits and Tampa gave up the third fewest rushing yards and 5rh fewest rushing TD’s in the NFL… age hasn’t effected him in the least.
