Patriots HOF nominees

Parcells?

1 - He quit on the Patriots.
2 - While at the Superbowl team hotel, he was calling the Jets the week BEFORE the game to line up his next job.
3 - He tried to screw the Pats out of compensation by claiming that he was a private consultant for the Jets and not formally employed by them. Taglibue had to intervene, otherwise the Patriots would have received ZERO draft picks.
4 - SOB signed Curtis Martin to a contract which is now outlawed in the NFL.
5 - Stole Curtis Martin from NE.

NEVER

1-Vince Wilfork: He should go into the NFL HOF. If complete dominance over a long span at your position is the criteria then it’s no question. Until he hurt his Achilles I never once came away from a game thinking “ Wilfork played poorly today.” And I can’t even say that about Brady and Seymour. He’s a top 3 NT in NFL history.

2-Logan Mankins: I think Mankins should go into the NFL HOF as well. Like Wilfork he completely dominated his position for years and years.

3-Julius Adams: Maybe this should be an old timer selection, but I think there needs to be a spot for some of these guys. Adamssseems deserving to me.

Welker, Milloy, and Vrabel certainly deserve to get in, but they are a notch below Wilfork and Mankins. Fairbanks and Parcells are interesting discussions, with pro’s and con’s for both, but I’ll leave it at this for now.

Julius Adams should be in, but there's definitely a championship/Brady Era bias, so it may be difficult.

Big Vince 100%

Wes Welker 100%

We are starting to see a bit of a log jam for the PHoF. There's something I never thought I'd see when they introduced the idea of it. I can remember scuffing at the idea. Who the hell are you going to put in there John Hannah, Geno and...? Well, here we are. I am happy to be wrong. I'd really like to see them open it up to more than one per year.

Julius Adams should already be in. At the very least he has to be a finalist this year. Once he hits that threshold if the fans don't do the right thing then as a finalist he becomes eligible for selection by the Senior Committee. That's the path that finally got Houston Antwine some long overdue recognition. That dbag Parcells has been a finalist 4 times and Adams has yet to be one is beyond ridiculous

I will never take this HOF seriously if Parcells gets in. He was only here 4 seasons, he finished 32-32, he only had two seasons with winning records, and he absolutely embarrassed the team in the lead up to the Super Bowl and joined a rival team. Oh and he actively tried to keep the best coach in the history of the sport from coming here.

A lot of love for Julius Adams. I'd put him in over Vince.
Logan Mankins was very good but he wasn't there for any of the Super Bowl wins.
I like Lawyer Milloy but I'm not sure I'd put him in the NEP HOF.
Same with Vrabel. Although he also was a reliable receiver from the 1-yard line.
John Smith? No way.
Chuck Fairbanks... I can't think of a reason to put him in.
Bill Parcells... not for his 4 years and .500 record. No thanks.

Wes Welker gets my vote by a wide margin among these nominees. He averaged 112 receptions for 1243 yards per season. He was ridiculously reliable except for the SB 46 drop and two drops in the 2012 AFCCG. Admittedly those were critical plays. Still, he led the team in receptions every season in New England. Also led the NFL in receptions 3 times and was second twice. It's hard to argue a better receiver ever wore a Patriots uniform.

Yeah, not after he actively tried and succeeded to a degree to undermine and torpedo this team after he left.

Was also only a .500 coach with the Patriots, 32-32. Two losing seasons out of four. Compare that to BB having two losing seasons out of 22.

Drew Bledsoe and Kraft did more to put us on the map than Parcells.

Parcells cut a path of salary cap destruction wherever he left. He doled out money on contracts to his loyal players like there was no tomorrow.

After a great deal of thought I’m a no on Parcells and Fairbanks. Both turned the Patriots around from a laughingstock to a real contender, but neither finished the job. Both chose to leave without getting the job done, so they weren’t denied the opportunity, but left of their own accord, either could have chosen to stay and win a Lombardi, which would probably be enough to get them in. Truth be told I don’t think Parcells cares one way or the other, and I doubt he would even show up for it. He certainly didn’t give a sh.t about Patriot fans, and in this case that’s who has the final say on it.
