2022 Free Agent Receivers - Will the Patriots Target One?

My eyes...MY EYES!!
coach cap you can be blind squirrel in this draft and still find a nut. I don't think they can Draft anybody we don't know. As long as BB don't REACH or overdraft someone.

I knew that you posted this before even looking at the username. That’s how predictably negative you have become.

Everyone here, even the casual fan, knows that the Pats have struggled to draft WRs, and knows whom they have drafted under BB, likely due to the 78 threads about the topic over the past several years.

I’m surprised you didn’t double down on unoriginality by also posting a list of the WRs whom the Steelers have drafted.

If you are going to continue to bludgeon us with negative posts the remainder of the off-season, can you also try to at least post original negative takes, so that you don’t also bore us.

That’s not much draft capital spent on the wide receiver position at all over a 17 year period. Less than one WR every two years. Obviously they need to limit it to top four rounds. Because Edelman was great evaluation and development from a 7th rounder, so it messes up the narrative.

Further, the Patriots have gotten tons of production from the position, with guys like Moss, Welker, Edelman, Cook, etc, so they haven’t been taking tons of wide Receivers early.

This is just kinda a lame tweet.

diggs extension is extra proof we need to draft a WR if we want a #1 guy

Too late for JJ Taylor; we need an Upgrayedd at his position... He had his chance lat year and did Nothing with it... Next!
He'll be given another chance in camp to compete with UDFA's and our likely 4th or 5th round draft choice.

Harris and White are unlikely to be here in 2023, so IMO drafting a RB is a really good idea.

Why is Harris already unlikely to be here next season? As some here remind us: it's only April...

If and Only If Harris doesn't return, then And Only Then will it be a good idea to draft a RB... NEXT year.

You have a much higher expectation of rookies than I do.

In any case, we have a roster spot to compete for in 2022, unless you have great hope for Taylor as a 2022 contributor and a 2023 #2.

We have Stevenson for 2023. We could wait and sign 2-3 next year, or we can use a 4th or 5th rounder this year to hopefully fill one of the 2023 roster spots.

I think that it is wrong to just hope that Harris, Taylor and White will be contributors on the team in 2023. The draft is primarily planning for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th years, with the expectation that 2-3 players will be serious contributors as rookies.
===================
For me, the 5th round is perfect for a RB and a backup OL.

I agree.

Olave could be that number 1 guy for us, but I am not sure he makes it to 21.

Metchie on the other hand, seems like a day 2 guy that will bond instantly with jones, but maybe not contribute until 2023.

Why shouldn't I? Other teams' rookies contribute their first years too.
We had 3 serious contributors from 2021. I'm sure that lots of other teams had more. Surely, you would have more.

In addition, we have Perkins and McGrone, one of which may contribute. And yes, we have a 6th rounder who will beat out any UDFA safety, although all the safety spots are filled.

Youa re certainly entitled to believe that you would draft major contributors as UFDA's. I suspect that most team don't have one major contributor in a given year, even after the UDFA is in his second year.

random snipe, without having a side in the joe/bruinz war:

My mistake #1
Then again, we were talking about WR, & the pathetic number of 10 touchdowns is correct.

Here is a little SPORTS TRIVIA for Mr know it all.

Name the last team that had fewer touchdowns from their starting 3 WR, in a 17 game season.

Good Luck Einstien !
"e"s before "i"s for Yiddishe guys.

Thank you !!!!!

How many were playoff teams?

The Ravens & the Pats & the Ravens have the weak arm running QB who can’t throw outside the numbers.

You happy being in the same class with Jaxonville & Carolina & the Giants ?

I am not !

I am glad we got Davonte Parker, but I am still hoping for another receiver to put Meyers & his 120th rated 2.7 YAC on the bench where he belongs.

Good luck justifying his 2.7 YAC….. lol
What a f'in joke.. You changed your argument AGAIN.

The fact remains that your statements that the Patriots receivers were "Bottom of the Barrel" and "the worst in the NFL" have been shown to be complete and utter BS. Every metric you've tried to rely on for your stance has been shown NOT to support you.

It doesn't matter how many of the teams with less than 10 TDs by their top 3 receivers were in the Play-offs. Because that wasn't your argument.
No one said that the Patriots receiving corps couldn't be improved upon. 99% of posters had the Patriots taking a WR in the draft. Whether it's Dotson, Pickens, Watson, Burks, Phillips, Melton, or whomever. However, most realized that the O-line play needed to improve for the WR play to improve. Why? Because improving the O-line would allow Jones more time to hit players deeper and not always check down to Meyers.

Everything about your stance has been ridiculous. From you changing your argument every time you're shown to be wrong to your insistence on calling anyone who disagrees with your BS to be a "Kool-Aid" drinker.

P.S. YAC stats need to be taken in context. Guys going over the middle of the field have a lower YAC than guys who are playing along the sidelines. So it's just another red herring and poor attempt by you to justify your ridiculous stance and hatred for Meyers.

Funny Edelman & Welker never struggled with YAC.

Then again, their legs didn’t stop when they caught the ball, like Meyers.

I stand by what I said at the time, The Patriots receivers before we got Parker sucked.

You may be able to dig up selective stats to prove otherwise, but if you can’t see the quality difference on field between Meyers & a St Brown or Elijah Moore, that’s on you.

The eye test gives the edge to a StBrown & an Elijah Moore over Meyers.

I am happy with Parker, but hopefully we will get another WR in the first 2 days of the draft.

Anyone that thinks Meyers headlining your WR crew is good has mental issues. I don't trust Parker, but it was better than nothing.

I agree

I am happy with Parker based on the alternative

Love to see a WR on Thursday night.
I am already expecting a throwaway DB day 2.

Hope Jordan Richards cousin is not in the draft.

When you draft a player in round#2 and they have no video or even a picture of the
player, you know it is just Belichick being Belichick
