I can absolutely judge a long-term model if since McVay took over in 2017 they've been to 2 SBs, the playoffs 4 times and haven't had a losing season. In addition the franchise valuation went up and their player salary liabilities are mitigated via cut or restructures.

You can argue and say it's too soon to say it's successful but you can't say it's has been disproven.
They were in the SB before they lost a single draft pick, so they didn’t transform the franchise by trading 1st round picks away. The result of the missing first round picks is yet to be determined.
It’s like taking up a 100,000 loan at 10% interest. For the first couple of years while you have 100,000 it seems great, but when the moneys gone and you have to pay it back, it doesn’t look so good.
They have HUGE commitments to Ramsey and Stafford, and they can kick them down the road, but at some point they eat those hits, don’t have the players and are missing 4 1st rounders on their roster.
Making it work in the short term is kids okay, it’s sustaining it that is unproven.

I do agree with Andy it's a bit too soon to say this is THE NEW WAY but after 5 years we can say it can't be discounted.
I don’t consider it 5 years though. They traded one of the 1s to move up for Goff. (It ultimately cost them 4 1s to pick him and replace him) Then they traded down. They only traded picks for veterans 2 times, Ramsey and Stafford and they traded 20,21,22,23 so it’s 2 years in and they have only missed 2 of the 4 picks.
That said, again, I would take 1 SB and 5 2-15 seasons over any other results that don’t include a SB, so I think it worked out fine for them and they can figure it out later, but as a new way to build a champion, I’m skeptical.

They actually traded a few picks and players. I don't think 2017 proves anything but it does show they aren't afraid of trading picks for players (like most teams do)

I think of it more as a car. They buy it for $60k, have fun with it and run it into the ground still owing $10k on it.

Meh. Ramsey counts about 10% and can either restructure or cut when he is 30 which is still a good age.

Stafford's deal is scary but because he is a pocket passer he has a chance to play well into his late 30s which would be a good time to cut/restructure.

Agree.

This is where the cap going up helps

Disagree. Cooks costs draft compensation to add, OBJ does not.
Cookies' addition would makes Kendrick Bourne a #3 though. We would have a really good group with him coupled with Parker. Mac would be really happy our Offense misses a guy with Cookies' route tree.

The car analogy only works if you include taking the bus for a few years to account for losing those picks.

Restructuring doesn’t make it go away. Ultimately you pay a lot of money and have no player on the roster for it.

Reading the Bills believe they are getting Gilmore back.
They are ironing out the making of a 3 year contract.

With Parker on the team I would rather the Pats get a WR in the draft somewhere between rounds 2-5 instead of trading for one.

The picks are the cars sight unseen. Might be a good car at a good price.

Thats cutting. Restructure is when a player still has value but not at the level he was under the original deal.

Is this what you mean? Every team thinks they're getting him.

That's kind of a weird swap, especially before the draft has actually started. I wonder how they landed at these terms. Seems more complicated than it needs to be.

My first thought too... It feels like the teams were just stacking picks into a Draft Trade Balance Algorithm to see what would line up, and hit "send" by mistake.
