Report: Odell to NE talks heating up?

Signing an old drama Queen does not move the needle.

People are living in he was. OB Jay hasnt been the same player since the NY Giants.

How many times have these rumors been completely untrue with the Patriots??? 99% of the time. Why would Odell pick the Pats, unless being true #1 receiver is more important than money.
I completely believe this report because it doesn't even make a strong claim. All it implies is the Patriots asked his agent what kind of money they're after. They probably do that with just about anyone.

Did you not see him on the Rams lol?
8 games 300 yards and 5 TDs. Playing with a 2000 yard 16 TD WR by the name of Copper Kupp.

Beckham is not "The Guy" anymore. Who do the Pats have that can draw that kind of attention like Kupp and open things up for Beckham? Because the NY Giants version of Beckham is ancient history. Thats why the Browns dumped him. Thats why Beckham is looking for a new job.

Beckham was having a great game in the Superbowl, which tells you that if he gets on the big stage again, it isn't too big for him. I really felt bad for him, because he could have silenced everyone, if didn't get hurt and say ended up the SB MVP.

I think the Rams will bring him back, I doubt he wants to go to the Pats because after paying the in the SB, I'm sure he wants another crack at it, and that is not coming in a Pats uniform.

No one is saying the Pats are going to sign him to be "the guy." If he's one WR in an otherwise competent receiving corps, it'll do

The Pats have average WRs stacked up like cord wood.

They need an Allen Robinson or a DK Metcalf type dominating WR. Every 2021 post season team had a Beast WR except NE, PHI and Vegas who were bounced out game 1.

Bills - Diggs
Bengals - Chase
Bucs - Evans
Rams - Kupp
49ers - Samuel
Chiefs - Hill
Cowboys - Lamb
Packers - Adams
Cardinals - Hopkins injured
Titans - AJ Brown is an off season.

Raiders - none - McDaniels could not sign Devante Adams quick enough.
Eagles - none
Patriots - Harry

Insanity is trying the same crazy strategy over and over and expecting better results.

I'm assuming the pats are going to get someone in the draft. A receiving corps of (as an example) - Henry - OBJ - Bourne - Meyers - Jamieson Williams - John Metchie all of a sudden is pretty good. Getting OBJ might be just one piece of the puzzle.

That seems to imply we're going to spend our remaining cap space and 2 of our top 3 picks on the WR position. It's certainly a need, but how would our guards/ILB/CB look?

Can't address every need in one offseason, unfortunately. The Pats are going to have to roll with whatever they have at certain positions. You could probably draft a guard instead of Williams at 21 and with OBJ/Metchie, it's still a competent receiving corps.

Who don’t the Patriots kick the tires on, who aren’t they associated with, what agent doesn’t use the Patriots shine as leverage to pump up their player’s value?

Sign him in November when he’s healthy to a “show me” deal if you need WR help.

This is a pretty deep draft at receiver.
I don’t see the value in signing a 30 year old receiver to 8 mill plus.
I think you can hit on what Odell could give you coming off a torn ACL in the middle rounds.

It’s disappointing to get nothing for Jackson.
A second back would of been invaluable.

Now as far as the draft unless you have s surefire quality day one starter staring you in the face at 21 you trade down.

We need talent at Receiver, Defensive Back, DL and OL.

More bites at the apple maybe what Dr’s Groh and Wolf have ordered.

Dare I say a double trade down?

Yes if Williams or Davis is there and was pass I will be distraught but if we can turn 7 draft picks to 12. That would really be a competitive advantage.

I’m curious as to where our team views the talent disparity between the 3rd thru 5th. On the other side of the coin wondering how we view the 5th thru Priority UDFAS.
To be a fly on the wall at those sessions would be a true gift.

That was my first thought as well. Looking at his regular seasons stats why would we even want him?

Then he 21 catches for 288 yards, and 2 TDs, in what 3.5 games in the playoffs. Which is actually pretty good.

If he was healthy I'd be all for it, he can line up anywhere and he moves the chains. At his best he can take a 5 yard slant 70 yards to the house.

However, he's not healthy and likely won't be till playoff time. So you'd be giving him a huge bag of cash to sit on his ass for a year.

I would think you sign him to a two year heavily incentive based contract. Since some of the posters here obviously didn’t watch the playoffs, he was really good!

for Triumph the only interest is in a #1 WR the quality of Kupp.

So, he works out an rehabilitates and shows everyone in November that he is ready to play.

Then the patriots sign him a vet minimum contract with incentives, because no other team will need a WR.

We might draft a WR that we know won't be ready until about the same time as Backham. We draft a player last year that we knew wouldn't play.
===============
The question about Beckham (and Williams) is whether they are worth waiting for. Obviously, worth depends on cost.

If our players were restructured and extended, we could well afford a couple of players who won't be expected to compete until the playoffs, and are primarily players for 2023-2025.
===============
To be clear, we are filling spots for 2022 AND also for 2023 when we have only Bourne.

We'll sign a vet free agent or two for 2022, and perhaps a 3rd rounder or later. That shouldn't mean that we shouldn't focus on players we MIGHT want for 2023.

if it happens it's a perfect Patriots and Belichick signing, a guy with a destroyed knee on a cheapo contract
You do know that they do a pretty damn good job of fixing knees these days?

He was absolutely terrific with the Rams. You apparently didn't watch any of the actual games.

So yeah, you didn't watch him.
