Doesn't look like they got better at all. A lot of bleeding there. Woods vs Robinson (wash), losing Von Miller, adding Wagner. Whitworth/Corbett huge losses. Williams is a loss. OBJ?

the patriots could use a 4th RB behind Harris, Stevenson and White.

Don’t ever forget Sony !

Don’t ever forget Sony !

I don't see how the Rams can re-sign Sony and OBJ. And I wonder what the Bucs are thinking in terms of what pieces they can add now. They are probably focused on Gronk and Suh, but that doesn't really make them better than last year.

It worked for the Rams in 2022. They are an outlier and things worked out for them. I don’t think they are winning another one anytime soon. I suspect many of the teams trying to replicate will fall on their faces.

The rams currently have 66 plates signed. 26 of them (and 12 of their top 51) have salary 925k or less and zero dead money if cut, meaning these are practice squad guys.
That is a big chunk of the roster that probably aren’t really nfl players.

Top heavy team like a lot of other contenders. They better hope they remain relatively healthy like last season or their lack of depth can be an issue. They also can be okay if they hit on their draft picks, but they don't have any until round 3 I think

Kinda hoping OBJ stays unsigned til after the draft and then can sign a deal once it no longer counts towards the comp pick formula. Teams will also have a better idea of how he’s doing health-wise by then. I just like the fit for him with NE but I would be surprised if it did happen.

You don't think the Rams can win another super bowl? I think they have a window to win one or more SBs between 2022-2024. For 2025, they are currently $90 million over the cap. But that's just kicking the can down the road.

They do have a fairly easier road than the AFC contenders. Only GB/TB/and SF(maybe AZ?) to worry about on paper.

They aren’t winning another SB. They caught lightning in a bottle.
Tampa, SF and cinch all should have beaten them and screwed up.
They don’t get through all those 3 more than 1 time in 10.

Let's not kid ourselves. It's going to be Rams vs Bucs in the NFCCG, unless there is a major injury to Brady or Stafford. I can see Dallas rebounding after this year's playoff choke if they can find a replacement for Amari Cooper in the draft. GB will take a step back because offensively they were too reliant on Davante Adams. if Jimmy G stays healthy and is not traded, SF will be dangerous as well.

Huh? TB didn't screw up - they were getting curb stomped the whole game until the Rams started fumbling. And SF may not even make the playoffs next year if Jimmy G is traded.

This thread is showing the false precepts the “The Cultists” are shaping already to push blame away from Belichick onto their scapegoat in the making - Mac Jones.

You don’t force a punt in a home game against a divisional rival. But, it’s an interception thrown by the rookie QB that loses you the game. You give up 195 yards rushing to the 31st ranked rushing offensive, but the interception thrown by the rookie QB, when his experienced, now departed, OC foolishly had him in an empty set on 3rd and 2, that costs them that game. The Colts run for 225 yards, the STs give up a blocked punt for a TD. But, it’s the rookie QBs INTs which costs them that game. You see where this is going, don’t you?

If you want to believe that, be my guest, but, it’s not anywhere near an honest appraisal of the 2021 Patriots; It’s not an honest analysis either as to what and where the Patriots have to improve to he better in 2022.

Yes, Mac Jones has to improve and take better care of the ball among other things. But, we’ve had our understanding skewed about the propensity of QBs throwing INTs by the QB who was here 20 years and now plays in Florida. QBs throw interceptions, and Jones will throw more than the old guy here did. The TEAM now has to be better to offset that.

You can’t be in the bottom third in run defense running a scheme designed to limit big runs and still give up 16 runs of more than 20 yards with three of more than 40 yards. You can’t let teams control the game one run play after another without being able to stop it. You can’t let offenses score 20+ points a game with one QB completing only 5 passes and another QB throwing for only 105 yards.

Other than having good health, the fate of the 22 Patriots will be in large part determined by whether the greatest defensive coach on pro football history can get his defense to improve against the run without significantly compromising his pass defense with the players he’s chosen, plus some likely additions, and the scheme they will run.

If he can’t do it, then maybe his cultists might want to finally admit that at 70 years old and after 40+ years of burning his candle on both ends, it just might be time for him to retire.

Nope I'll give him more than one more season.

Imagine regularly visiting a message board devoted to being a fan of a sports team and saying that if the other people there approve of the historically successful coach of that team, they’re “cultists”.

Echoing @venecol, this is a free agency thread, so not the appropriate thread for this, although there’s really not any place on the board that is appropriate for this level of vitriol toward your fellow fans.

Yes, you can be all of those things and be the 1 seed if your rookie QB just had a little more experience and didn’t throw those backbreaking Ints.
Sure the team has other areas that if it did better it would have won more, same as every team.
But what they achieved with a rookie Qb was excellent and had he not made those mistakes they win those games and achieve a 1 seed. That’s a fact.

Nobody is blaming him for losses. We are pointing out that his rookieness was the difference between 10-7 and a 1 seed. Let’s hope he makes the 2nd year jump, avoids those Ints and the other 52 do at least as well, and this will be a great year.
