2022 Free Agent Receivers - Will the Patriots Target One?

The entire offense gets credit for what the entire offense does.
The goal is to score.
An offense that scores is better than an offense that doesn’t.
An offense with pretty stats is not better unless it scores more.

So you credit the receiver on the bench for a Harris touchdown run?

How do you judge performance when you credit bench players?

Do they get extra credit for standing and not sitting on the bench?

I credit the entire offense for what the offense does, including all the plays leading up to the one that scores.

I think you are being purposely stupid now, evidently because you have realized your argument sucks.

I'm going to be nice to you and say you're just trolling now.

Because if that's not the case, you're one stupid sonofa*****,

Wow… this coming from an Patsfan protege ?

You are one nasty patsfan poster.
Hopefully Ian will take notice & doesn’t let you in the Hall of fame.

I care about that as much as I care about stats, bad troll.

You're here looking to get a rise, nothing more. And worse, you're not clever about it and just boring. You should be banned.

My argument is simple

We currently have a set of WR that needs to be upgraded.

Meyers
Bourne
Agholor

These are not guys your going to win a Super Bowl, now that you don’t have Brady.

Jones needs more talented receivers.

That’s it… & then the koolaid drinkers chimed in.

They all think Meyers, Bourne & Agholor are fine, I don’t .

It is that simple.

You fall on the koolaid side of the fence.

I wont be banned…. You have no clout, your a nobody who thinks they are important

For what….. not crediting receivers on the bench for rushing touchdowns…. Lol ?

I wouldn’t doubt you will run to Ian…. Go for it.

We probably will not, unless one with that is a great value falls to us.
We had the #6 offense and the #2 scoring frequency, with a rookie QB and 4 of the top 5 receiver targets being new to the team.
The smart plan is to build on that and strengthen other areas. You know, the ones that don’t have fantasy football categories.

Huh? Having an elite receivers isn't "fantasy football category" both Superbowl teams had elite receivers

You aren't winning a chip with a bunch of #2 and #3s

You cannot possibly be so tone deaf that you think your message is:

I just want Mac to get talented receivers.

And people rip you for that.

People rip you because you come to the board of PATS FANS and consistently and habitually make negative comments.
“The patriots have the worst receivers in football and your stats that say otherwise are stupid” is not “I want mac to have talented receivers”.

I did say in my view we had the worst starting wide receivers in the NFL in 2020 & 2021 and I used PFF individual rankings.

Others didn’t agree & they pushed the team aspect, while I was talking starters.

One guy thinks receivers on the bench should be credited for rushing touchdowns.

Now, my statement is debatable, but I was basing it on my view of the players

Example…..

I believe the Ravens have better talent, despite injuries.

I would rather have their receivers to ours, even though there Rookie got hurt. I feel they have better talent with more upside.

Now there may be a team or two with debatable stats, but I would go with the players I feel have more upside.

The Jets for example may not have had equal stats, but I would prefer their receivers to ours as of today.

If you look at the numbers, Meyers may look compatible to Elijah Moore, but I believe Moore has better upside.

Unfortunately if your not drinking the koolaid, you get pushback.

Have no fear… the wolf is in the henhouse.
I'm confident there will be another draft with the Pats getting at least one big time player from a big school because Bill will listen to his scouts. No more feel good character guys Chris Simms had said that was emphasized way too much during his one year in the front office in 2012. In fact, he said there was truth to the rumor Bill would take a good character guy over the talented guy every time. Explains the bizarre selections from 2013-2020.

That is not your argument. Your argument is the patriots gave the worst receivers in the NFL. That’s why you get met with arguments.

No one would not like to upgrade any position.
But the offense WITH THESE RECEIVERS was 6th in scoring and 2nd in scoring %. With a rookie QB and 4 of the 5 targets being new to the team.
It’s ridiculous to deny there is a very good chance the offense and passing game will improve, perhaps quite a lot, in their 2nd year together.

Meyers is an 80 catch receiver.
Bourne had 800 receiving yards playing just 52% of the snaps
Agholor had 900 yards 18.7 per catch and 8 TDs in 2020. (If you don’t realize the rookie constraints on jones were a huge reason he didn’t duplicate that you just aren’t paying attention)
Henry had 9 TD catches and 600 yards.

These are not slugs. They were part of a top 10 offense with a rookie QB.
Would it be nice to upgrade the position? Sure, but there are other more important needs. We didn’t lose games last year because of the WRs.

I imagine you think “koolaid” means not crying like a child.

I think Hernandez freaked them out. Your probably right.

Teams that win have good players. Spreading the ball among a number of weapons is not less likely to win than having one main target. The best teams win not the best wide receivers.

The Patriots starting receivers scored a total of 10 touchdowns in 2021.

That my friend is not good !
60 total points over 17 games.
That is 3.58 points per game from our
Receivers.

Do you think that is good?

If you can’t see the talent gap between a St Brown or Elijah Moore compared to Meyers, there is nothing I can do, but disagree.

Your opinions are wrong when they don’t match reality.
It is entirely impossible to be a top 10 offense with the worst receivers in the league.
Elijah Moore had about half the catches that Meyers did, so really you see just making up negative comparisons. Half the catches is not comparable.
You are doing the same with the Ravens. Duvernay has fewer receiving yards the last 2 years than NKeal Harry.
Watkins in the last SIX YEARS averaged 37 catches for 505 yards and 3 TDs. He sucks. Agholor in the last 6 years averages 48/600/5 but you say he sucks and Watkins is good.

You will have to explain to me how an offense with a rookie QB and spotty OL issues for a good part of the season was a top 10 offense and even higher in many metrics if the receivers stink.
