2022 Free Agent Receivers - Will the Patriots Target One?

No, it's not "the guy who did the best."

Because you're only measuring a few pieces of a position puzzle.

If the Pats replaced Agholor with Byrd and Byrd got better stats, would it matter if Agholor was taking a safety with him all the time, opening it up for others, and Byrd wasn't?

YPT, YPC, YAC are three different metrics that measure differently depending what role a WR is asked to play.

A bubble screen that gets called back on a ticky-tack hold hurts the top-end performance of your stats, yes? Is that on the WR or the guy who held (or the ref who decided to throw a flag)? How many yards did Jonnu Smith have called back last year - do you know?

How much of the stats you're using as your gauge depends not only on the QB, but on the specific throws he makes or doesn't make to the WR?

The Pats ran a flea flicker early in the year where Mac connected with Henry (I think) for a nice gain. On that play, Nelson Agholor had a gimme 50-yard TD. If one Wr is on a team that is constantly airing it out a looking for that kind of chunk play and the other WR is on a team where the QB has been told to above all else protect the ball, that changes your equations.

Well if your such a stat guy, what stat do you use to justify Meyers lack of finding the end zone?

He is not taking the top off the defense with his blistering 4.63 - 40 yard dash time.

Is he playing for field goals?
2 touchdowns over 3 seasons is not good, but let’s here you spin it.

I'm not a stat guy, and hate fantasy football.

I'm a win guy.

And again, quit making s*** up. I said my piece about Meyers and stick with it, and it more than answers your question.

No explanation for Meyers lack of finding the end zone, just as I presumed

Hopefully we will draft someone who can run & knows where the endzone is located.

End of story

I will bet you the Patriots score more points than the lions.
That’s all I care about and that’s how you determine how good an offense is, not with fantasy football stats.

People hate fantasy football stats on this site when talking about the Patriots receivers.

Receptions, yards, & touchdowns don’t seem to be a priority here.

No wonder they like Meyers who is allergic to the end zone.

I feel dumber reading your pwning posts.

Earlier in this thread, someone said: "Meyers is a great safety valve guy, but isn't going to scare anyone at this point, or probably ever. He's a guy you want on your team, but hope he isn't seeing the most chances."

I'll defer to that guy in the explanation of why Meyers isn't getting a ton of TDs (along with the red zone offenses the Pats run, which rarely, if ever, use him as a target).

Oh… so Meyers not scoring is planned?
Wow…. You consider yourself knowledgeable?

This is a good receiver draft. Patriots are extensively scouting receivers. Leads me to believe that is a target of theirs.

Draft is where we gonna get a #1

People hate fantasy football stats because stats are for losers.
People who understand the game, understand that scoring points is what matters.
People who understand the game wouldn’t call the offense that scored the 6th most points and score on the 2nd highest percentage of possessions worse than the Lions who scored the 27 th most points and scored on the 22nd highest % of possessions and scored 13 fewer offensive TDs than the Patriots.

So to quote you “are you going to take my bet or be a ****y?”

I sure hope we draft a receiver early.
Hopefully someone who runs faster than 4.63 & scores more than 2 touchdowns in 3 seasons.

So you are telling me the lions have better receivers because they score 35 offensive TDs and Brown had 5 of them, but the patriots scored 48 offensive TDs and Meyers only had 2 of them.

We probably will not, unless one with that is a great value falls to us.
We had the #6 offense and the #2 scoring frequency, with a rookie QB and 4 of the top 5 receiver targets being new to the team.
The smart plan is to build on that and strengthen other areas. You know, the ones that don’t have fantasy football categories.

Yes… The Lions have more talented receivers right now.

St Brown
Chalk
Raymond / Reynolds

I would take the lions starting receivers over the Patriots current starting receivers.

I believe they have the faster more talented starting receivers, but they do lack a quality QB.

I believe St Brown is the best of the bunch & if Chalk can get back to 2020 form; he will help a lot. Raymond is another burner.

Would you rather have any of the Patriots receivers over St Brown?

The current Patriots receivers are what they are, there is no big upside or talent to tap into.

Meyers is not going to run a 4.5 - 40
Agholor’s hand are not going to improve at this point in his career.

Maybe you could enlighten us on those hidden talents of the Pats receivers?

Jesus F*cking Christ. You are still vomiting onto your keyboard about this same topic?

Three posts in this thread yesterday afternoon, then four more posts between midnight and 1:12 am then an edit of your tough guy challenge to @DaBruinz at 2:12 am, now more repetitive blathering here today.

….or a girlfriend/boyfriend/non-binary friend/puppy.

St Brown is nothing special. He caught some passes last year on a bad offense in a bad team at an average of 5.4 yards down the field.
Meyers caught 7 fewer passes for 34 fewer yards in an offense with more other weapons. Swap them and Meyers probably out produces him.
Bourne is better. Agholor can do more.
Raymond has caught 67 passes in 5 years.

But by all means, let’s make the bet. Who scores more points in 2022. I got the Patriots, you gave the Lions. Deal?

First I would need to enlighten you in what it means to be #6 in scoring and #2 in scoring frequency, because you need to be able to recognize obvious talents before we talk about hidden ones.

I work 3rd shift.
I post from work.

You don’t like it, move on
I don’t need your approval

So the receivers get credit for rushing touchdowns. Funny, they need to put Harry into block on running plays, but you credit the receivers they take out and put on the bench.

Try again…. Lol

The entire offense gets credit for what the entire offense does.
The goal is to score.
An offense that scores is better than an offense that doesn’t.
An offense with pretty stats is not better unless it scores more.
