this is just BB doing his homework in case the need arises later in the season.

BB fills the major holes in the roster prior to the draft just about every year. The Pats don't want to go into a draft with a glaring need anywhere, so they can strategically strengthen position groups with BPA with a long term view.

Prediction: they sign a LB, IOL, and probably another CB before April 28th (or have agreements lined up should a later signing date support the compensatory draft).

Which is a need, 4.46 (which is Devin White & Devin Bush type speed) LB, that can stop the run and get at mobile QBs. He also averaged 12.4 a punt return his 1st 2 years in NY. Gunner's was 11.9 last year.

He is an inch shorter and 20 pounds lighter than both of those guys. Depending on the cost I have no problem with them signing him and his special teams abilities are a bonus but he definitely is a tweener.

Other than one or two guys that look like your avatar and a couple of CB's, the whole defense is being built with guys who are tweeners.

To me he looks like a very small LB and doesn’t “look” fast even though he may be. IMO If we sign him…I’d like to see him add 10 -15 lbs as long as he can still cover TE’s and RB’s.

I prefer Ronnie Harrison. Younger/cheaper/faster /taller. Just finished his rookie contract and is Ufa. Never been coached right since leaving Bama. Drafted by Jax in 2018 and traded to Cleveland after 2 yrs. BB could really bring out the best in his game I think. In fact how about Peppers and Harrison? Hmmm

It seems to me that he is a guy who would compete with dugger phillips and bledsoe for a role or are we try to use dugger/Phillips a little bit different
