I thought WR Valdez-Scantling would have been a good signing for us but I'm going trust BB's WR evaluation skills.
I’d rather trust Dr Kavorkians

id rather trust DR Kavorkian on wellness tips than Belichicks WR evaluations.

I agree about the part « they did 2 years of free agency ». I strongly disagree with the fact that the contract look very good this year.

That’s the cap hit for 2022 as of right now:

Agholor: 14.9M
Smith: 13.7M
Henry: 15M
Godchaux: 10.2M
Judon: 16.5M
Mills: 6.6M

Only Mills and Judon are acceptable cap hit the rest looks awful. Between Agholor, Smith and Godchaux, we lost 40M of cap space with useless players.
CAP hit is not how you should be looking at these. AAV is what matters - they built these contracts to get the players under the CAP last year.

they're still under the CAP this year, and can push some money ahead is they want to - but of course, if they do that, then the future CAP hits look bad, right?

They're going to have to push some of these because they're about where Miguel says they need to be for future (draft/ps, etc) transactions

Agholor, Godchaux, and Smith are all bargains at this point.

I don’t want to restructure their contracts…I’d like to roll with what we have right now and keep 85-100M cap space for next year and once again double dip…so that in Jones’s 4th year…we just pick up his option and negotiate a big extension before year 5.
I'd love it if they could EXTEND both Agholor and Godchaux.

You know he didn't actually murder people, right?

I see we're at the crap-all-over-our-own-players stage of the grief process.

If you think $7 million/year is too much for the guy who played the highest percentage of snaps on the interior of the D-line, then I don't know what to tell you.

If you think Agholor is being paid higher than a mid-level WR#2, then you aren't looking around the league.

If you think the Patriots mortgaged their future anywhere near what several teams have done this year, then you don't understand the CAP.

The Patriots bought 150 years of service with their FA acquisitions last year. That is in no way comparable to what the Rams, Dolphins, Browns, and others have done this year, laying out huge guaranteed money to individual players and back-loading the CAP hits, front-loading the deals, in win-now mode.

The Patriots are not in win-now mode this year (but they could still make the playoffs, like last year, when most of those teams you're clearly salivating over were sitting at home the second week of January). They structured the contracts to see what they've got, sort it out, and be left with a solid middle class of veterans, AND, to leave them the money in 2023 and 2024, with that core intact, to go out there and get the next level of talent to fill in the holes.

The only season why you'd love for both those players to be extended is because nobody wants them. I am sure BB have tried to move them both but no takers at their price points. You think 473yds Agholor enticed McDaniels I am sure when BB called he hung up phone. Those are horrible contracts for those players I will Never justify them not even in my dreams.

Apologies if this has been posted already...

The AAV's of the contracts look very good indeed, compared to 2022 contacts.

I'd be fine with an Agholor extension.

The coaches and staff know whether Godchaux is worthy of being our starter for the next 3-5 years. I suspect that we will have a 2nd round draft choice at his position. HOWEVER, having Godchaux extended would be good news to me. It would mean that Godchaux is one of the front for the future (with Barmore).

The market is what it is. From now on you need to drop coin to get receivers.
