OT: Tyreek Hill to Miami

Trade Agholor to the Chiefs. Boom!

(It’s actually not an outrageous thought….he’d be good in that offense and it’s only a one year commitment).

The only people who ever mention that have no idea of what a million dollars is. If there was any truth to it, why would pro-athletes keep flocking to California?
People go where they get paid. I own a multi million dollar company and I think about state taxes all the time

Why would state taxes suddenly become more burdensome across the country? If anything, the opposite is more likely to occur.
Liberal states are always looking for ways to tax people more. CA is trying to pass a bill that if you move out of state, you will still owe them for state income taxes for up to 10 years

That's awesome.

Keep crushing it man

Owning a multi-million $ company isn't the same as simply making $10's of millions a year.

The great California exodus was a zombie lie. The people coming into CA were far wealthier than those leaving CA.

If you're making $30 million and worried about state taxes...I mean, come on.

Mixed back for us.

Weakens the Queefs but they get the opportunity to draft some Grade A talent to reload.

Hill is an immense talent but the Fins are the epitome of organized dysfunction and ineptitude.

Hill is in our division but Tua does not scare me
If we don't have a guy that can stop a slant next year then it's going to be a tough season.

The NFL has it collectively bargained for relative competitive balance that checks for away games are taxed for the state they are played in. So moving to a low income tax state is not as big a deal as people think.

Kansas state tax bracket for someone of his income is only 5.7%...so yes, he is saving money but not a ton. We're talking $7million on a $120 million contract. Now in NJ it would be around 10%, which would then $14 million in taxes
The savings are less than what people think... Play a game in New York? Pay New York taxes on it... Etc etc...

Oracle, HP, Palantir all left CA for better state taxes. They are slowly killing their golden goose. People move to, I moved to Florida to save a boatload on state taxes from DC.

KC was still the betting favorite to win the AFC West before this trade, wonder if this changes things.

Do you know what were the odds?

The WR market is outta control…and has been for a while now. The Kirk/Jags deal was probably the tipping point, IMO. Kirk is a great receiver, but not on Hopkins’ level. By giving Kirk 20M AAV….it made it impossible for the Packers to franchise Adams….then the dominoes all fell….and here we are…Hill is gonna make 70M over the next 3 years…say he tweaks an ankle….that’s 23M/17 = 1.37M lost on a per game basis.

Right now, N’Keal looks pretty good to me….let’s see what he has this year before we move on. We are gonna have to grow WRs at home via the draft. FA WR? Forget it….unless we pick up a disgruntled WR like Moss/4th in 2007….but we had to pay him 9M AAV in 2008 though….

Not going to get into the politics beyond noting that what he wrote is not likely to occur.

Why take the bait? Why? you could just let it go.

You guys that think the lack of income tax is a factor ... do you really think that this guy, this 28 year old guy who we know is a bad dude, is going to Miami because there is no income tax? If it's even on his radar, it's way down the list of reasons.

And all were easily replaced (just go look at Culver City, with Yahoo, Google, Sony, as an example - or the Riot compound in South LA). Good for you with your choices. I have no problem paying my share. At some point, it's just all-but-meaningless numbers in a bank. For athletes at the top, it's just about ego.

If you make 8 figures a year, you can get pretty anything you want any time you want - heck, if you make 7-figures a year and complain, that's pretty pathetic, from where I'm sitting.

I'm surrounded by very wealthy people out here in SoCal. If a few % of taxes is the cost, I'll take South Bay over anything FL can offer any day of any week. As will lots of other people, clearly.

There's nothing "dying" about CA, except for the drought.

Just correcting misinformation. Doesn’t indicate interest in a philosophical discussion about state taxes.

California is a **** hole, and I live in the state.
