DRAFT 2022 PTP Draft Board / Pats Draft Talk

The more I see the draft mocks and the quarterback carousel very few teams would want to trade up . We would be lucky if we find a trade partner for 21 unless Detroit is interested in pick 21 to draft a QB. Panthers will draft Pickett. Whoever likes Malik Willis and if available at 21 would be our trade partner. Seattle, lions seem like good prospects .

Stay at 21 if either Jordan Davis or Trent McDuffie or Williamson is available. Else trade all the way to 40. 45-80 has pretty good talent .

We don't know what grades the Patriots have on players. So, we might think McDuffie looks great, but they may actually have a player like Booth rated higher than McDuffie. It's possible. Booth was a very good player at Clemson. I do see a lot of talent slated to fall in the 21-26 player range. These are better players than those you'll find 28-40 because those in the early 20s are always projected to go in the 1st round, whereas the players from 28 on are found in the second even third rounds.

So, for instance, CB Booth, the DE Johnson, LB Nakobe Dean, DE Wyatt, maybe a guy like WR Olave will be there, and I bet that WR J Williams from Alabama will definitely be there for us because of the ACL.

These 6 players are ALWAYS projected in the first round and they'll most likely be there at 21. So... I would not trade out of the first round because there seems to be a drop off, not unless the Patriots know they like CB Kaiir Elam more than Booth and McDuffie & they also know Elam will be there at 34 or 35.

Toofy, it would be very, very interesting if Davis ever fell to 21(I think he goes top 15), what do we do, I would love him next to Barmore in the middle, that would be insane!!!!
I have a gut feeling we'll move back a little and get a few more pics. If McDuffie or Booth are still there and with cb being our top need, that would be tough trade back.

What is your opinion on Mike Harley out of miami? He’s a speedster that seems to have good hands.

Explosive slot that can work outside. Mostly running short stuff but very good running & using the MOF to his advantage on deep overs. Does a nice job at working himself open against trail or off coverage. Good hands. He's not the most shifty of players though. High cut lower half doesn't help him out getting in/out breaks, double moves or making the first guy miss. True speedster but limited. Late round / udfa type.

I really like Booth. I'd hoped we could trade down and pick someone like him, but he's getting enough buzz that I think 21 might be in play. He fits really well with what we do, and I like that he can actually tackle. Fun player.

I've been a fan of Gray and Robertson for a few years especially Gray though. He's got a track background and also plays ST's which might be a bigger need than some think. I wouldn't call him "big" though, 6'/185-190 soaking wet. Just makes the cut-off there.

2nd is too rich imo. Wait to the 3rd, see where guys like Austin, Robinson etc end up. Then you have Phillips & Covey types who might be available later.

I agree though and have been saying as much all last year. This team needs an "easy button" water bug that can get open and win quick. Whether its Austin, Robinson, Phillips or w/e doesn't matter. This group isn't bad but we're missing that quickness in the MOF on those option routes, juke routes etc. That and a true X but either would go a long way.

Waiting for the 3d as you describe, makes a lot of sense, if they can get away with it. It would be hard to burn a second on such a WR when there are so many other holes to fill.

There will be a run on WRs sometime in the second or third, so the Patriots cannot get too cutsey; hopefully they can time if right. I cannot say when the run will be, but I gotta believe that it will be in the second or early third round. Once the run starts, you and me and the other draftnics will be on the edge of our seats....

He would be awesome. Tiny but awesome. I doubt that anyone will be able to cover him, so if nothing else he will give CBs some mental health problems, especially the tall rangy ones that are all the rage these days. Jitterbugs can drive a defense insane. BB needs to drop all the extraneous grades on WRs and concentrate on whether he can get open or not.

More Edleman than Welker imo. Austin wouldn't be a "true" slot bc of size. More Slot/Z - gadget but yea I'd welcome him or some of the others guys I mentioned (Robinson, Phillips, Moore, maybe even a Velus Jones) in a minute.

Was just watching some Youtube clips of Jahan Dotson . Reminds me of Deion Branch. Same type of body and style of play. Looks like a crisp route runner who can play from the slot if we need him to. Would probably have to move up to the top of the 2nd round to get him if we don't want to use a 1st on a WR.

Top of the 2nd looks to be the sweet spot for that 2nd tier of Wrs. But then again I am having flashbacks of trading up for chad jackson pt2.

From what I’ve read about him in draft profiles is he can make plays sideline to sideline. Just needs some coaching but has the athleticism. I’d take a late round flyer on him.
