NFL Free Agency 2022 edition

Wonder if GB brings MVS back into the fold.

OK, I guess that that you are fine with Stidham as a backup for the next few years. Or perhaps we should go with Hoyer as our only backup for the next few years.

This visit is due diligence on a backup QB. One source has him being drafted at the end of the 5th.
I'm going to guess he was also there to see WR Skyy Moore . . .

The Ryan Bates visit is interesting. He seems to have done fine in a small sample size of 5 starts, and he’d be a starter for the Bills if they had a game today. At the very least, it’s an opportunity to make them pay him more.

Its not how it works.
Over the next 5 months they will try to acquire legitimate competition for TC . using FA 1, Draft, FA 2, Trade..

Nobody outside can even begin to know what upgrades they need.
Hambright for example looks legit competitor for LG. Maybe Canadian guy can be competitive for some position too.
Cajuste, Durant and Sherman did not look good last yr but maybe one of them can step up . although my hopes are not high.
There will be new OL coaching staff, new approach, new assessment - that we know nothing about.
Many guys can play multiple positions so they will target best opportunities and delegate positions later.

Im sure we agree that BB intends to compete this year as usual.
And usually he doesn't go to Draft with open needs. So we can expect they will fill all the needs they feel before that..
1) I agree that Belichick tries to go into the draft without open needs. HOWEVER, I think that he often goes in with 1 or 2 needs. I think that we went into last year expecting to draft a QB and a DL.

2) We have Andrews and Wynn coming back. The staff may have decided that Onwenu is a starter, probably at RG, and that Herron could be trusted to start (and hence is at least a top backup). The team may even have decided that Desjarlais should make the 53, even if he is a developmental player. I've stretched all I can to get to 5 players: Wynn, Andrews, Onwenu, Herron, Desjarlais

However, no one has seen enough of the rest to make a decision that they are competitors to be starters. I'd wouldn't be surprised if NONE of the rest makes the 53. Personally, I expect Ferentz to make the 53 as a backup C/G.

When I say "as of now", obviously that is my guess "as of now". I see four open positions, so many that I have penciled in Ferentz, although he may be on the Practice Squad instead of the 53.

3) My BOTTOM LINE is I expect us to acquire at least 2-4 players who will make the 53 man roster. That is a very large number. Of course, those players might no be decided until the second week of the season, having us possibly sign a player cut by other teams.

More money than the Raiders? Jesus.

The Raiders just got the WR considered to be the best in the game, and they've got him for 5 years. In order to get him, they gave up a first and a second. The Patriots gave up a first rounder for Brandin Cooks.
They also got a 1st back for him, and a Super Bowl appearance while he was here.

Winner of this GB-LV mega trade are the Patriots. They no longer have Josh at #22 waiting to jump in front of Bill to take his pick; or at #53 right in front of Bill's #54 to do the same.

Bill playing chess while everyone else playing Baccarat.
The Packers are going to need WR's now and they have a good history of Drafting them. This is as good a year as any based on the Talents available.

But they thought it worth a first to make the trade. That's what matters for this discussion. People complaining about too much being given up are ignoring that BB thought Brandin Cooks, who's obviously not as good as Adams, was worth a first round pick. It was actually more than that, as the trade was a 1st and a 3rd for Cooks and a 4th.

But you do make a good point with your post. Not only did BB think Cooks was worth a 1st round pick and more, the Rams did, too, giving up a 1st and a 4th for Cooks and a 6th.

I say rebuild trade Judon for a first +
