NFL Free Agency 2022 edition

This ^ is what matters. Cap versus number of quality players signed, not cap alone.

In 2017 the Pats signed Gilmore and mostly their own free agents.

If all your best players need to be signed in single offseason, that's not cap wealth. The money is already spoken for.

They're doing now what they have always done outside of 2021, when they were actually cap rich... which was a rebuild.

Let the free agency fire burn itself low, pick through the burning coals for value vet free agents and draft well.

They did what they gave always done last year too, spend the resources they have.
They had more cap space so obviously they spent it.
Not having cap space isn’t a terrible thing (unless you are loaded with dead money) because it means you have used your cap space in players you want, and are showing restraint to not just kick the can down the road.

Shaq trade was not for cap but contract. All contracts wo guaranteed money are just smoke. Agents will have players hold out until guarantees are given. Coming from a strong season a raise in pay will also be asked. Similar situation to Gilmore 2y ago.

The best is yet to come..
I thought he still had some guarantees in his contract, shame though thought we still should of got more than a 5th rounder for him though.

Just concerning that we don’t seem to have a coaching staff like we normally do.

I think he is wrong. Over the Cap have them less than a million dollars under and Sportrac have them a little over $2 million under.

Think he means they’ve cleared over 80m in cap space from what I can tell!

Welcome to the Dalton Keene era. Or perhaps the return of Ben Mason. He was One of the top fullbacks in last year’s draft. Not sure why they released him from the practice squad after several weeks.

Yes I assume it is the Dalton Keene era, but you are right, why did they sign and release Mason if they were high on Keene?

Barring several major trades or moves, the roster is just too weak to compete with the Bills, Chiefs or Bengals. Not even a prime-Brady with the mobility of Lamar Jackson could overcome it.
You forgot the Chargers and maybe Colts with that RB who torched us on the Ground.

Josh McDaniels apparently saw his play differently.

It seems like coaches leave NE and sign NE players, but that never works out well. I have read that the coaches want to instill the Patriots Way in new organizations, but it never seems to work. Doubt it will in Las Vegas either.

How the mighty have fallen! From mt. Everest in develin all the down to the mareona trench - injured fire hydrant keane!

This is uglier than a goddell family reunion!

They did clear a lot of cap space, but they are still robbing Peter to pay Paul and it will catch up to the sooner or later. I mean next year the cap is projected to jump 30% and they are already projected to be over $5 million over the projected cap with only 37 players under contract. If the cap jumps 30%, so will the salaries. That means they will have a difficult time filling the entire roster. If they trade for Watson, it will be even that harder.

But he said the Saints went from over $80 million to under by $80 million.

Von Miller after the Super Bowl win “let’s keep the band together and win another”
Von Miller after all of Denver’s moves: I’m coming back home!!
Von Miller after getting a 6 year 120 million offer from the Bills: I’ve always wanted to play in buffalo, best sports franchise ever!!
