Damn, Jakob was progressing well. Not yet Devlin, but getting there

Welcome to the Dalton Keene era. Or perhaps the return of Ben Mason. He was One of the top fullbacks in last year’s draft. Not sure why they released him from the practice squad after several weeks.

Nah, it’s mostly just opinion, surrounded by drawing poor conclusions from the few facts that you stated and misused.

In any event, I know how this story ends so I have no interest in engaging your negativity.
I am here because I am a patriots fan, and have no room in my world for botching to get attention.
Carry on.
Who am I getting attention from? I think we're all doing the same thing here... talking about football. We're not talking about ourselves or each other so there's no "attention" to be gained. It's a pathetic notion. I don't know anything about you... other than you're a Patriots fan with opinions.

You do realize the refs were letting the Saints get away with murder that game, don't you? Ever heard of bountgate?
What does that have to do with Favre's INT? Watch the replay... Favre makes a ghastly decision and a worse throw. Pretty much like always.

Keene was a decent FB in college I guess (Bleacher Report LOL)...

STRENGTHS

—Great depth addition; can play H-back, fullback, in-line, slot and special teams, and could probably play defense, too.
—Good vision to find his blocking assignment and keep them out of the play; was the lead blocker on most Virginia Tech runs.

The question is whether he will get what he wants to get. Other than the Jags grossly overpaying for Kirk (and the Chargers overpaying for Williams), this year is starting to shape up like last year with WRs that no one is willing to pay for them in free agency. We already have seen DJ Chark give up on getting a long term deal and take an one year prove it deal with the Lions.

With the legal tampering period coming to an end today and the biggest WR free agents still unsigned (Robinson, Landry), I am guessing the WR market is going to come down like it did last year for the same reason. Will it drop to a level that the Pats will jump? Who knows? I can't see Robinson and Landry doing what most of the WRs did last year and settle on an one year deal and hope next year's free agency will be more favorable to them.

One thing really working against WRs now is that the draft is continually producing great WR prospects. That is supposed to be the strongest position in the draft this year and it has been up there the last two or three years.
No point signing big name receivers when rookies can operate at 80% of their efficiency at 5% of the FA salary.

I love the kid and have been rooting hard for him (how couldn’t you with his attitude and story) but we’ll have to agree to disagree about his ability to catch the ball. If he was making plays in practice against the 1s we likely would have seen him get some run at WR in pass heavy sets.

The only way we'd have seen Gunner is if there were major injuries. Instead we saw Wilkerson because he could line up outside.

You're forgetting that in Multi-receiver sets, the Pats would put out Agholor, Meyers, Bourne, Harry and Henry.

I'm not saying Gunner is a world beater, but this idea that he can't catch is BS.

Are they wrong in this instance?
Considering you've not mentioned exact;ly what bonus you're referring to, how could ANYONE make a determination as to wtf you are talking about. Fact is that Miguel figures ALL signing bonuses and roster bonuses and such into his cap number. Just like he figured in Meyers 3.98M number already.

Try answering the question asked of you.

Well, the patriots didn’t even think Gunner was worth the UFA tender, and they desperately need a receiver, so what does that say about what they think about his ability as a WR?
The Right of First Refusal would be 2.33M. That's a lot of money to tie up in him if he doesn't make the jump to helping as a receiver. It's completely understandable from a Salary Cap perspective. And it's already been mentioned that the door isn't closed on him by any stretch.

That’s my point, if they felt he was ready to make the jump as a receiver, he would be worth that much and more. So they don’t seem to think the can.

Myles Jack to Pittsburgh

Well, it matches a certain quarterback who was strip sacked in the super bowl with the game on the line with a horrible decision at the age of 40

Or, they feel the need to make him EARN it first. Like they've done with pretty much every other player like him..

Who cares about rookie years. He didn't develop. He can be easily replaced.
aah
That's a different statement entirely, one with which I agree.
