Chandler gets $51M for 3 years.
How to say "We've got the worst QB in the most stacked division in the league" without saying "We've got the worst QB in the division in the most stacked division in the league"...

So the Patriots have a lot of young Edge Players to go with Judon. I can't see them going for Edge players in this Draft knowing who they already have in the fold interesting.

That's my thought too. There's a lot more spots to compete for at the ILB and CB positions defensively, and between Uche, Perkins, and Jennings, you gotta see if at least one of those guys is the real deal. I could see them bringing in a Terrence Mitchell level vet to create a floor for that group though, in case NONE of them work out. Of course, if a sure fire talent at edge drops to 21, I'm not sure I want them to pass on that either.

I'd be hesitant to pay Chandler Jones $17 million a year. If he can return to his 2020 and before form, sure. But last year he had 5 sacks in the opening game and then 5.5 sacks the next 17 games if you include the playoff game.
Sacks are good but overrated unless you are like Aaron Donald pressures are what counts.

Rookie draft picks will be minor against the cap; they’re replacing other top-51 guys. Based on the above, 10m seems like the right number.

Anyway, any new contract they sign could be heavily back-weighted which would give them more flexibility. And there are other restructurings or cuts that could be done to clear up space.

the top 2 picks have significant cap effect

Jennings and Perkins could be really good Uche have shown flashes I like the youth there somebody's gotta stick.

See this: NFL Draft Resources and Contract Estimates

$2.9 and $1.3m for rounds 1 and 2. Replacing two top 51 players totaling $1.6m on the cap, we’re looking at an impact of $2.6m. Not really significant in the greater scheme of things, unless there’s bonus amounts missing from what’s in the chart.

I don't think Jones was particularly dominant at pressuring either last year. I didn't watch a lot of Cards games last year. So I could be wrong.

OK, significant is a relative term.

Miguel usually judges that we need from $6M to $10M to cover various costs after the draft. One of those is the cost of the top 2 draft picks. You can decide which costs are significant. I suspect that 2-3 restructures are expected to cover these costs, so we need not be concerned with running the cap cost near zero. However, we need to be careful not to use the restructure money twice or three times or four.

I never thought the Pats would be in on Jones even if they were going to break the bank this free agency. So there are still some really good pass rushers available. Not sweating that he went to the Raiders.

Looks like we are losing Gunner?

Rob what's the story on Trey Flowers??

Melvin Ingram III haven't been good in a while love Clowney though.
KC pass rush got much better after Ingram joined them. He's almost 33 though. Right up our alley.

Thought Gunner would have made the WR jump and he didn't he looked promising the year before. He couldn't cut it with a weak group last year.

He is still available. I am guessing there isn't a huge market for him since he has been injured and not very productive in Detroit. I think he is a prime candidate for a return on a one year prove it contract.

Why? Have you heard anything? I mean no activity doesn't mean he isn't coming back. The Pats may not be making signing him a priority or he might have unrealistic expectations.
