And if Bill wasn’t in attendance, some here would write “How can Bill not show up, to get a closer look at all of that elite talent!” I’m sure that he has his cell phone with him.
Nike got it covered.
Agent- what do you mean 10 million bones?
Can you elaborate?
Is that a new crypto currency?

It’s a risky strategy when the cap doesn’t increase much; that’s not a concern at this point with the new tv deal.

The other issue is that is makes it really difficult for the team to cut a player who declined, because they would have a huge dead cap charge. This problem is avoided if you perfectly assess the players - sign them for just as long as they’ll still be worthwhile. The Saints have been reasonably good talent assessors, which has helped keep them going. The Jete did this strategy too under Rex Ryan when they first started winning, but they were poor talent evaluators and it wound up biting them.
It also means the player is in the Gilmore situation a couple of years out, playing for peanuts compared to his peers (even though he was already paid bigger bucks up front).

I think for the right money he could be good, but he was probably cut because he wasn't $8M/year good.
I’m also keeping an eye on the Raiders simply because they’re the Pats’ operation. If McDaniels and Ziegler don’t think Nassib is worth the money, then BB probably won’t either.

This can be answered after the draft and FA signings
There is a plan I am sure
Was there a plan when Bill rolled out Cam Newton in 2020? What's the difference? Every season is a new season. Living off the past is meaningless.

Any of the those NFC South teams aren't winning that division. It's Tampa Bay's division with Brady back. Of the three teams though, New Orleans is in the best position to be immediately competitive with Watson. Atlanta is a mess right now, really bad on both sides of the ball. Ryan is not a bad quarterback and he's couldn't get anything going with that offense. Seriously, had they not had Cordarrelle Patterson doing his thing, they would have had absolutely nothing. Carolina is not exactly a decent team either. The best fit for Watson in my opinion is Cleveland... Watson and Jackson in the same division would be a lot of fun to watch.

It must be difficult dealing with all of your bitterness. Yes, Brady will be throwing more dirt on your Montana argument. Durability is yet another checkmark in Brady's column... competing for MVPs in his mid-40's. Montana only made it to 38, barely, and that was two years too late... he would have been better off going out gracefully in '91.
This is a Free Agency thread.

YUp, Bridge year with a cheap bet to clear the cap and set the cap up for an aggressive season after that
I guess only

Now we only have $10M left under the cap? Does that include covering rookie draft picks?
We're still hopefully looking for a FA OL & WR. Not a lot to spread around this year. We better nail the draft picks.

We can rework deals if we want to.
I don’t know what Belichick is doing but he has to have a trick up his sleeve.

Rookie draft picks will be minor against the cap; they’re replacing other top-51 guys. Based on the above, 10m seems like the right number.

Anyway, any new contract they sign could be heavily back-weighted which would give them more flexibility. And there are other restructurings or cuts that could be done to clear up space.

What's up with Trey Flowers and Chandler Jones??

Bonus money counts against the cap even in the off-season when the rule of 31 applies. Spotrac estimates that bonus money to be around $3.1 million.

The plan was newton was the only qb who would play for the paltry money they had to offer.

Can we like do something. OBJ, Landry, Von Miller, Gilmore, Jones, Collins, get all of them

The prorated portion does, because it’s part of their cap number, which Miguel takes into consideration

Right, but it’s still far less. A 4 year 48m deal could have $12m in bonus and $1m in year 1 salary, and the cap hit is only $4m. And then when accounting for replacing another top 51 person (who likely has no/little bonus), it will have a net impact of only ~$3m on available cap space.
