It's easy, and only takes a few moments. The Rams open up cap space via real extensions (not just voidable years) more than any other team I can think of. As they talk about imminent extensions for Stafford, Donald, etc, remember that these giant monetary figures will actually open up cap space in the short term.
I haven’t seen any updates in recent days, but as of about a week ago they were expected to have some cap-clearing moves gone before the 16th, when teams are first required to be cap compliant. But don't they have to do that before they sign another player? Can they move themselves further over the cap once the new season officially starts? Didn't the NFL officially start the 2022 season on March 8th?
Expecting a very quiet week from them.I’m anxious and excited to see what moves Patriots make. We may see some four year contracts with the big part of the cap hitting years 2 and 3.
Where there is a will there is a way.
Cap is crap.
Yes, we will be younger with Hightower, Collins and Van Noy.He’s been a great player but it’s time to get younger and faster on defense.
What are you talking about?Yes, we will be younger with Hightower, Collins and Van Noy.
Maybe, we'll even be as good.
Patriots will sign him to top $ but only after he's confirmed to be slow as a snail. Right now he's still too fast and quick.
You said that we need to get younger and faster at LB.What are you talking about?
You said that we need to get younger and faster at LB.
We definitely will be younger.
You ASSUME that whoever get the reps of those players will be faster and better, Maybe, maybe not.
He’s been a great player but it’s time to get younger and faster on defense.
I see this a lot and, no offense, but it isn’t realistic. Unfortunately, you can‘t get young on defense in one year. What you do is have a mix of young players with some veterans and phase out the veterans over time. If the Pats replace all their 2021 LBs with young guys, this defense would likely get worse.
I am not sure the Pats should sign Wagner, but he would be a perfect piece for a getting younger strategy. You can surround him with younger and less experienced players and he can mentor than and help cover for their weaknesses due to their youth. By the time these players emerge, Wagner is ready to move on.
Wagner could be a great mentor for McGrone, Uche, and Perkins as they grow as players.
The Patriots need to get younger and faster on defense, but that doesn’t mean they cannot sign a player like Wagner to help with the transition to that. He is certainly faster than Hightower, Van Noy, and Collins anyway.
