It's easy, and only takes a few moments. If Judge is the de facto OC I'm not happy. Not sure how I feel about this. On the one hand he knows the system but on the other hand I was hoping for some new blood inserted in what has become a quite predictable offense.
So Judge will work for Lombardi, who has never called plays? LolMy guess is Judge helps out on offense and ST. I feel like if he was gonna be the OC, he'd be the OC, not "Offensive Assistant". Could be wrong, though.
Thinking this through more... Judge was the ST Coach and also Wide Receivers Coach before going to NYG... Who is the current Wide Receivers Coach? Mick Lombardi, who is probably in consideration for the Offensive Coordinator role. I'm wondering if perhaps they intend to give Lombardi a try as the OC without giving him the title right away, and are bringing in a guy like Judge who can help pick up the slack at WRs Coach and also contribute on Special Teams too. They have Troy Brown too who was just also given the title of Wide Receivers/Kick Returners Coach in 2021.
BB throwing crap at the wall and hoping something sticks. So Judge will work for Lombardi, who has never called plays? Lol
In order for him to be OC, Bill would need to interview a minority candidate first. Given his texts and the lawsuit, who would he interview that wouldn't consider it a sham interview. My guess is Judge helps out on offense and ST. Who's calling the plays? The WR #1? The 2nd year QB? Any of the existing positional coaches w/ no experience calling plays?I will say if we can get a superior Talent on Offense like a legit #1 or 2 WR it wont matter who our OC is. But if the powers to be are going in with the current corps good luck they are going to need it.
Seems like Pats fans are playing Judge no pun jury and executioner here regarding the Judge hiring. Let's give the Judge a chance a competent OC is the least of our problems our Talent on Offense is just too paltry. That said maybe Mac is a Brady like student of the game who would be allowed to call or change some plays. Learning from a Defensive minded HC is an advantage for a young QB.Who's calling the plays? The only people w/ play calling exp are Little Steven (D only) and Judge (failed HC of #31 offense 2 years in a row).
So, my sister recently had back surgery and her physical therapist worked for the Pats. He worked on Gronks back and knows him quite well. Im not sure if he is still with the team, but he just told my sister that Joe Judge is very qualified and has a stellar reputation inside the walls of Gillette stadium. The perfect man for the job were his exacts words. Smart, respected, tireless worker of course. Said that Joe is a real good guy and does not possess a volatile personality like some coaches do.
But their are a lot of talent evaluators here that say Judge will fail at calling offensive plays because he failed at HC like Bill did his 1st time.I've seen Joe Judge break down film before with the NYG and he seems to know what he's talking about. I just don't know what happened in NY though. I guess you can be a smart football guy without strong management ability you are going to fail as an HC.
Or maybe Judge is as good of a coach as BB thinks he is.McDaniels to Judge as OC is a downgrade. Hopefully there's something else on deck that we don't know about.

Guess we'll have to Judge for ourselves. If Judge is the de facto OC I'm not happy.
The Joe Judge hire is a headscratcher, especially as an offensive assistant or worse as the unnamed OC. NYG's offense was really bad with JJ as the HC. Like much worse that it even was with Pat Surmur who got fired for being inept. NYG had the 18th ranked passing offense in '19 when Daniel Jones as a rookie posted respectable numbers. Their passing offense sunk to 29th and 31st under Judge and now DJ looks like a bust. NYG's defense also completely crapped out under Judge.
This hire feels a little too much like Matt Patricia 2.0. Generally I liked to see BB invest in some experienced proven coaches for his staff, especially with the coordinator spots. I don't think Patricia or Judge are the guys I want working closely with Mac Jones.
