With the Andy Dalton comparison I am comparing Mac's rookie year to Dalton's prime.
We don't know what Mac's ceiling is or how he matures physically or grows in the system.
Whereas Triump is saying that Andy Dalton is Mac Jones ceiling. And his real point is that he’s not a franchise QB, and they need to replace him.
My take on Jones is that he has the tools and mindset to become a great QB, I saw the things I wanted to see out of him, in terms of processing information and understanding the game at this level, it’s not too fast for him. He can make all the throws, he’s a leader, and the team rallies around him and believe in him. He also has better touch than I ever imagined he would have. I think he’s going to be a really good QB, but they need to get him serious weapons if they are going to compete in the AFC, which is loaded with young talent at QB. We will see what happens over the next few years, but the one the I know for certain is that there will be people like Triump crapping all over him, and hoping he will fail, just so they can be right. They have been wrong the past twenty years, but now they get another shot at it.
