I also can’t think of one team that would not have let the greatest Qb of all time finish on his terms. Don’t get this twisted. The Pats made it about them and their “system” two years ago and the Goat left and won elsewhere while we are in the middle of a multi year rebuild.

Joe Montana? Peyton Manning?

Had Tom stayed we would be currently staring at the beginning of a rebuild. And he would’ve ended his career with 6 instead of 7.

Now I understand Tom may hold a grudge for how it ended but for his personal legacy he was done a favor. Got to prove he could win outside of “the patriot way” and go pick a team with much better offensive pieces in place than the one he left two years ago.

It is fascinating how BB's philosophy is to say a little as possible but sometimes by not saying anything speaks the loudest.

Maybe it's a simple as he doesn't feel the need to say anything but I don't think so.

Quite the dichotomy in communication.

It is odd all around. Didn't BB make a long statement when Jimmy G was traded? And supposedly went into the Buc's locker room to smooth things over with Tom? Why is it hard for these people to be civil? Maybe they are extremely competitive which spills over into personal relationships?

As Troy would say, Bingo! We got Bingo!

I don't think BB put out a statement but he did speak glowingly about Jimmy, etc.

It's just so interesting. We know BB is big on hand-written notes, etc which shows he has an understanding of the power of the pen and simple gestures of showing sincerity on a personal level.

But when it comes to dealing with fmr players who are in transition or with other teams he is clumsy and robotic.

Maybe in 10 years it'll be a 30 for 30 entitled "Bill and Tom" like Bill and Parcells. There will be awkwardness but I do think they genuinely appreciate one another but are not friends.

The fact that Brady’s retirement announcement thread is 58 pages and 55 of them are debating whether what he did leaving our entire franchise out of his multi page goodbye letter was OK says it all. He effed up.
Maybe here at PatsfansthatdontappreciateTFB. Everywhere else they're talking about his amazing career, from former teammates to opponents, media, etc. This talk of a slight to NE is a minor topic everywhere else. Shows you the extent of the jilted brides on this forum.

The Patriots are better off for moving in a different direction. Brady was better off too. Brady would have had a horrendous time playing in 2020, and he probably would have retired after a 9-7 year. Instead he won the SB. And if Brady had stayed here, our QB right now would be Stidham, instead of Mac Jones.

This can be true, and so can the concept that the Patriots didn’t allow Brady the opportunity to retire with them on his terms and therefore he rewarded the team that did in his initial retirement when they gave them what the Patriots wouldn’t.

Yeah it seemingly worked out for everyone. More so for Brady who got a ring. Hopefully for us, Mac takes the next steps and we become contenders in short order. But it doesn’t change the initial disagreement and that the Patriots valued keeping their cap clean and being able to move on over the Brady send off.

There are a lot of franchises that will look long term and say “short term we can get started on the next era but long term losing a year or two won’t be much to pay in the big picture if we give Brady and the fans here the big sentimental retirement they will remember”. The Lakers did it with Kobe and their stature in the NBA as a franchise is not that different from the Patriots. Not a single Lakers fan is looking back now with regret on having to suffer 3 bad seasons. The Giants are in a world of hell now, but it meant a lot to that fan base to see Eli retire there. And 10 years down the road that will be important. If Mac wins us titles, then we are the 49’ers where we except our Montana needing to leave to sustain greatness. But right now we feel like the Colts who have to be reminded that Manning wore an orange jersey and his big send off was somewhere else and there are still sore feeling on both ends over it.

In life, choices have consequences. The Patriots 2 years ago not giving Brady the treatment to go out in this franchise on his own terms and instead not trusting him and wanting to keep a finger on the eject button came with a consequence this week. This wasn’t unpredictable either. I said as much 2 years ago.

In the “breakup” I’ve been on Brady’s side all along. I think the Pats made a big mistake. He’s the one guy who Kraft should have made sure retired a Patriot.

That being said, it’s a bad look for Tom to not mention the team and it’s fans. It looks petty and that’s not the character he has shown for the past 22 years. It’s disappointing.

Bill likely doesn’t care but I’m sure Kraft is hurt by the snub. 2 years ago he could have made the choice to keep Tom a Patriot for life. He decided not to and now has to see the GOAT retire and not even mention the franchise in his retirement letter. Hopefully the fence can be mended soon. Kraft is not getting any younger.

Absolutely stunned that Shank said something nice about Brady. He never has a positive thing to say about any Boston athlete

Everyone I talked to was saying the same thing today. Everyone. Talk radio calls were entirely about this topic....so it’s not just this forum. He spoiled this with his snub. The literal outcome is no one in NE is talking about his playing legacy in this moment.
If that's all NE fans can talk about after having the benefit of having the GOAT play for the team and bringing countless memories of come backs and SB wins, then one can only conclude that all those fans are nothing short of entitled trash.

Thanks for the advice, but probably not.. his lack of acknowledgement of the Krafts, Pats Fans, BB and fellow teammates is pretty crappy (and deliberate).. on his voyage of life it has become more and more about him and his narcissistic leanings.. many teams would not have entrusted the 199th pick of the draft to take over the team in their second year. If he was not in this system, he may have just become another irrelevant player in the NFL who has been forgotten about.
So while everyone is talking about his exceptional GOAT career, your take is he may have just become another irrelevant player in the NFL who has been forgotten about. And you have the balls to question how classy he is? Lmao dude. There's an entire slew of patsfans like you here. Jilted brides that can't get over TFB being a FA and choosing to go elsewhere. F y'all.

Ok. I'm aware of this but I don't understand your point.
Sorry I was going to state that I agreed with your last point. That they respect each other but not the best of friends. Obviously the way Brady talked about Coach you can tell it was genuine appreciation

There was a difference the younger Brady was capable of carrying a team with lesser talent, the Brady of the last couple of years needed talent around him to succeed. Remarkable the level of performance given his age regardless.
The 2019 Pats were significant worse on offense than nearly any team Brady had after Edelman got banged up and the AB fiasco. Gordon leaving was just icing. They were awful and trash. It has nothing to do with a decline. You can watch that season again and most people paying attention saw that Brady was throwing balls to receivers out of desperation because they were not getting open and unfortunately they couldn’t catch contented balls or were dropping passes when they occasionally were open. Unfortunately Brady couldn’t just not throw passes because the team around him wasn’t competent,

But Brady was making the throws. Pretty sure Jules led the league in drops that year and he was injured and still the best guy out there. That says a lot

Yea they've both said very positive things about each other.

In theory there shouldn't be any issues btw them moving forward but why do I feel if you put these two in front of Dr Phil i'd be an interesting episode.

Then why did Tom thank the Univ. of MI? During my retirement party from a company I would not thank my alma mater. Your analogy is weak. But that is the way you see life, so that is the analogy you use.
He didn’t…. He thanked his manager and said “you have been with me since I left Michigan”. That was the extent of him bringing up Michigan. Pats fans just ran with that to tell “ahhh he mentioned Michigan and not us”.

What about the teammates Brady played with on the Patriots for 20 years and 6 super bowls? Even if you say it's okay not to thank the fans, Kraft or bill.

Do they deserve to be treated as an afterthought?
They're all praising him. Unlike folks here, crying about it. Anyone that actually worked with him has nothing but great things to say about him. The only dissapointing thing is how y'all bend over backwards to continue to shyt on him even on his retirement. Grow the F up Mfers.

You're delusional. Pats fans everywhere are annoyed at what Brady did. Maybe not a majority, but a large number of them are. The only people who don't seem to care are the Tommyites.
