Semi OT: Flores suing NFL and NYG. Texts from Bill involved in the suit.

C'mon, man, if this becomes anything like a genuine threat to the league rather than some damn ugly media content, they will totally circle wagons and protect their own.

Remember what Krafty Bob said, it's about the 32, and Ross is one of the 32.

at some point the 32 becomes the 31, though......if an owner bet on a game and it messed with the integrity of the game, watch how quickly they get cut out of the circle

this really isn't that far away from that......the giants hire thing is really just saying "the rooney rule is a joke" because, well, it is.......it's the same reason jerod mayo got interviews right now.......but the miami/ross/tank piece is huge if they can get corroboration, etc........and there's lots of ways to connect those dots

Read the post I responded to. It was implied that if blacks are athletically superior to whites in general, why couldn't the reverse be true (whites are better strategists or coaches, things we associate with kinds of intelligence, Belichick is called a "genius" after all).
Now I know where Jimmy The Greek has been all these years!

I can't see how Ross isn't forced to sell the team if what Flores is alleging here is true. Also a bunch of first rounders taken away.

No different at all than the Black Sox.
If it were true, the NFL will launch an investigation and conclude it’s not true. Refer back to the little beauty they came up with on deflation of footballs.

If an "interview" as defined in the Rooney Rule has no shot of proceeding further, is it really an interview?

Giants might be in trouble too.
Years back, and I can't remember the team, there was an attempt to bring in minorities to interview, and the minorities kept refusing, which led to a situation where the team looking for a HC could have been screwed even though it was actively seeking to bring in minority candidates for interviews. Now, that happened because those minorities thought the the interview would just be window dressing, but it wasn't because of racism. It was because the team already had its mind made up about who should be the next coach.

Well you can, there is no law that says if you find your guy before all the interviews are complete you can’t offer him the job on the spot. There is fierce competition for the top candidates.
And they didn’t give the job to him before Flores interview.
Then why are you interviewing the other guy next week? It seems there is a rule. And, when it comes to following EEOC law, for those who have to, you actually can't hire someone without conducting a thorough process upon completion of the interviews.

Do you seriously think the owners are going to band together to throw out anyone who may want to tank?

If it goes to trial it's past the stage of an NFL investigation. Discovery is a different animal.

I assume Flores wouldn't say this in the suit if he didn't have proof.

Flores to USFL: “How you doin’?”

Would include the “Joey” image but I’m only slightly more adept with tech than BB.

In other words, Flores is gonna get paid!

This is worse for Miami (tampering, tanking) than for the Giants, it seems to me. Simply because if you have a Rooney rule as a box that you HAVE to check, it shouldn't be a stunner that some teams go through the motions to comply. I'm not saying it's right, but everyone knows it has gone on, and the argument has been that it's better for the minority candidate to have a practice interview and to at least get his name out there as a candidate, rather than not being involved at all.

Well, there has been. Obviously, the predictable response is "that's racist" and discussing it will get you banned off most websites. You're fine with implying there's a genetic trait favored one way, but not the other.
WRONG as can be on all accounts.

We have combines. At the combine we see which athletes are superior, and the NFL scouts judge accordingly. Beyond that, I can tell you as someone who coaches a sport in the inner city that there is huge purchase among African Americans in the cities when it comes to basketball and football. We can't get many kids to play soccer or baseball. They simply won't do it.

So I'm not talking GENETICS. I'm talking about both participation and performance (like the combine, for example).

AND, I'll say it again. There are no studies but flawed studies by white supremacists, as I've been over this is greater depth than you can ever imagine as it's part of my job.

Lol a coach notorious for being meticulous and being a stickler for details apparently doesn't know which former Brian assistant is which.
He knew who he was talking to, but got the initial message mistaken about which Brian got the job

Very true. But Doug Pederson has a better winning percentage than Flores, and has actually won a Super Bowl, yet he's still currently out of work.

It's not all about credentials, particularly when it's about a job where there are so many variables that make up success. That's why "I've got the credentials!" generally doesn't really prove anything on its own in situations like this.
What are you even talking about?

The question was about Steve Belichick versus Flores.

For the youngsters in the crowd....

'JIMMY THE GREEK' FIRED BY CBS FOR HIS REMARKS
By George Solomon
January 17, 1988
Jimmy (the Greek) Snyder, CBS Sports commentator, analyst and oddsmaker, was fired by the network yesterday after a controversial television interview Friday in which he said many blacks were superior athletes because of breeding from the time of slavery and that the only area in sports left for whites was coaching.

Did BB make a mistake or???? Miami is our rival.

Of course, NOTHING will happen to those teams for CLEAR VIOLATIONS that should mean forfeited first round draft picks and millions in fines...I'll sit back and let you people figure out why...

What?
You set up interviews. You find a guy you love. You start negotiating a contract with him while you conclude the interviews. You hire him after concluding interviews and no one beat him out.
There is absolutely no law against that. There isn’t even a morality or fairness question.

What are you even talking about?

The question was about Steve Belichick versus Flores.

And you pointed to credentials.

Yes, of course. Maybe not how you think of it, but in your hypothetical a clearly unfair system reproduces a set of horrendous circumstances (one black head coach in the NFL), despite the superior credentials of the person of color.

I'm pointing out that you the hiring of NFL coaches (as with many other positions in many other fields) is not done strictly on the basis of credentials, and its not necessarily proof of racism that those with theoretically better credentials get passed over.
