13 Seconds

By point of reference, the one kickoff that was returned earlier in the game by the Chiefs went for 26 yards and burned up 7 seconds:

8:03 - 1st: T.Bass kicks 65 yards from BUF 35 to KC 0.
B.Pringle returned to KC 26 for 26 yards (T.Jones; J.Kumerow)

next play: 7:56

A kickoff to the 5 miminally is going to burn 5 seconds, unless they fair catch it, then you take the extra 20 yards and laugh.

If you hit the 5, they arent fair catching it. They would need to advance it, or at least try to.
If every kicker could make every kick land at the 5, every kicker would land it at the 5. It's a lot easier to nail a squib kick than it is to land it at the 5.

Then Buffadildos should have used a drop kick in place of the kickoff...

I think everyone is missing the elephant in the room. Here's what happened with 16 seconds left in the game, with a lead, and they kicked it in bounds to burn clock. cue "Music City Miracle".
PTSD from this made them kick it in the end zone.

I can’t see myself being any happier than watching them lose like that. Good job Patrick, do what Brady did to Manning. Give them heartbreak and get them snakebitten early.

**** Patrick.

Were both KOs in the same direction?

Then why is McDermott going through the events millions of times?

IMO he knows he just didn't trust his special teams in a big spot, and then screwed up the defensive calls after that too.

I doubt what happened in January 2000 has/had much of an impact on him as he works through his inner turmoil.

If so, he could just say "I just saved everyone from another Music City Miracle" and drop the mic.

Its still in the rule book... 2021 version... and you should have read that article before citing it

The Ravens play is not legal because that kick was not a true drop kick... Tucker bounced it off the ground...
That's what a drop kick is: A kick which the kicker bounces off the ground and then kicks (or kicks simultaneously as it hits the ground). If the player holds the ball then drops it to kick it and it doesn't bounce off (or touch) the ground, then it is a punt.

According to the 2021 NFL rulebook, you may dropkick or placekick (with or without tee) on a regular kickoff. You may not punt. (You may punt, dropkick or placekick (without a tee) on a kickoff-following-safety.)

No; This is splitting hairs, but NFL

By definition, a drop kick is a kick by a player who drops the ball and kicks it as, or immediately after, it touches the ground. The kick Tucker made, and what was disallowed by the NFL after seeing it, was at least a foot off the ground... He literally tossed the ball into the air, let it bounce up, and then kicked it on its descent... ie, Not a drop kick... What Tucker did was illegal, and should have been flagged / penalized when he did it... But because they were the ravens and Biscotti and Goodell are bros, they got away with it...

A Drop Kick

Not a Drop Kick

see the difference?

Everyone is caught up on the 13 seconds but when I watched the game again what really stood out was the Chiefs potentially blowing it instead. On 4th down Ingram blows past the right tackle and Josh somehow evades him and a few others on a scramble for the first. Then shortly after that Josh converts a long 4th down for a td. Josh was dialed in but I don't know how the Chiefs allowed this. For this particular game I do believe the Chiefs were the better team though Josh gave everything he had. Blame the Bills #1 defense for this loss in general.

The Bills failed to stop the Chiefs from getting into fg range earlier before halftime so their two minute defense clearly needs work.

I didn't mean what I said seriously....
