Tom Brady throwing coach Tom House assesses Mac

House has a very scientific approach coupled with great understanding of the intangibles that make athletes great. The latter -- what House calls "the hard part" -- Mac already has under his belt, he says. The physical improvement apparently is just a matter of putting the work in. Interesting how he noted a player Mac's age has years to go before maturing physically.

Exactly. Not saying that Jones will even come close to Brady, but this is the Brady setup. Intangibles, like dedication, nuance, competitive edge, are hard to teach, if not impossible, by this point. If a QB doesn't have those elements by the time they're drafted into the NFL, their likelihood of success plummets.

Brady had those intangibles PLUS the undeveloped body, just like Mac. Strength can be built. Experience can be gained.

There have been plenty of guys with phenomenal physical skills, but their intangibles were awful. JaMarcus Russell being a big (literally) one. Ryan Leaf another.

I can guarantee Mac will get a throwing Coach this offseason.

House didn't say he was workig with Mac yet. Also note House is the guy who got Brady's arm to elite status.

Brady was already elite when he went to House. Brady was coached by Tom Martinez until he passed away in 2012, then Brady hired House. House confirmed this last week when he said he had been working with Brady for the past 10 years. House helped him, no doubt, but Brady was clearly elite 10 years into his pro career.

If Brady does retire this year, how long until he returns to the Pats building for PR moments - like when McG or Bruschi stop by at practice, etc...

To me that will really tell us how the relationship with Bill is. I am sure he we will see Brady hanging out with Kraft in the suite here and there but I want to see how things are with Bill. At this point based on all the public comments from both sides I think any animosity that may have existed from either side seems to have dissipated so I hope Brady comes back frequently in whatever role he takes post playing career.

If you have a dissenting opinion from the sunshine and rainbows group you're a moron rooting for Mac and the team to fail. Mac didn't have a strong arm this year. Yes he can work on it and House will help but House saying good things about a guy who is paying him is to be expected. He isn't going to tell the media "Yeah this kid has a lot of work to do and has a really weak arm."

I don't care much about fan opinions.
I do care that this forum not be diminished by either-or binary thinking, the same way I don't want that misery in my living room or favorite watering hole.
"Doesn't have a strong arm" and "has a weak arm" are not the only options, for example. Nor does being optimistic and happy to be a fan make a person a member of a group. Or all sunshine and rainbows.

Agreed. But it is amazing how well Brady throws the ball at 44 which must be a product of his effort and training from the last 10 years.

I don't think Mac has a strong arm but per the OP that makes me a moron. There seems to be a handful of posters on here that think everyone with a different opinion warrants name calling and ridiculous leaps questioning people's fandom.

He’ll be in the booth with Kraft after his HOF induction… maybe. And that’s it IMO. I can’t see he and BB chumming it up. Maybe he’ll come back for Bill’s HOF induction.

That would be unfortunate if they have this long frosty relationship like Bill and Bill Parcells had. I am hoping they have/will patch things up and it isn't some ongoing Cold War.

It's not. Brady could care less about the past (aside from losing to Eli twice) and whatever Bill and him spoke about in that room after the Foxborough game seems to have righted the ship in their relationship. They've both done nothing but candidly praised each other after that game. It's not like they hung out together even during the good 'ol days.

Brady's already said he's looking to come back to NE to hang out after he retires. He's not dumb to piss away the fan base of an entire region over some nonsense.

I think never.

Not because of any animosity between him and BB (which is overblown, IMO), but because of two factors:

a.) This is a new era. McG and Bruschi have been retired 10+ years and they are on TV. Brady hanging around is not good for the young players who are trying to make their own mark, IMO.

b.) He likes warm weather.

We will have him back for the HOF….and maybe after he gets in Canton (5-6 years from now)….then 10+ years down the road…a few games of making him a honorary captain…when we have players who haven’t played in the NFL with Brady.

Absolutely, Brady relentless work ethic is the reason he’s the GOAT, and the reason he has lasted as long as he has without any drop off in his play.

Yeah. I fully expect Brady to be back. He said as much after the week 4 game - that we would be seeing him around. Kraft and him are extremely tight so he will be with Kraft and I also think Bill too. I think the Tom/Bill relationship was beaten to death and was not nearly as tenuous as reported by the media but I also agree that whatever tension was there, it has dissipated now.

Nobody knows Mac's ceiling, that's just nonsense. As to the average arm, does that include Tom House who asserted he needs improvement (and can achieve it)? Your paranoia is out of control. Try some risperidone, it may help.

Mac's arm being average is why he needs improvement -- House called it "adequate" and "accurate." You damn well know what I was referring to re. Brady-ites dumping on Mac ("weak arm/low ceiling"). Definitely pathetic, hardly paranoia-inducing. I have no idea what risperidone is, must be something you have experience with.

I don't think you could use the fingers in one hand to name the # of posters that have said that Mac has a "weak arm" AND a "low ceiling." I'm being hyperbolic on the paranoia just as you are on your statement.

OK, use your fingers to count the ones alleging "weak arm" and your toes for those claiming "low ceiling."

low ceiling???? jeezus krist I hope this friggin' plane has up to date instrumentation...
