Although not all his fault, I don't think anyone could survive having two first round picks in the teens, and a year later you have to cut both of them.

Ruggs was taken 12th overall (he killed a woman) and Arnette 19th (threatened to kill someone while brandishing a gun)

Plus he reached for Leatherwood as a LT at 17th last year, and they had to move him to RG (and he is still struggling there).

Does he get his job back at the NFL Network as a draft "expert" after failing so miserably as a GM?
Being a former gm only enhances his civ

I hear you. Personally, i'd do whatever is possible to replicate the current model. Once it becomes obsolete or cannot be staffed with the right talent to execute then blow it up.
This makes me wonder how to define the BB model. Game plan for the opposition, create a true meritocracy for roster spots/roles on the team and most importantly teach fundamentals and maintain discipline. If the press representation is accurate the thing that needs to be replaced is BB's game planning genius. That is different than San Fran where there was an offensive philosophy that was the ultimate set of rules. I think that is easier than trying to replicate the Pats game planning.

The game planning is the philosophy.

Bill does not want to be locked into acquiring players that only do X well but players that do multiple things well nor does he wants his system to be hard-coded but extensible.

He does not want to be a, "We do this and that is all we do" Steelers and Ravens type of team.

Jack of all trades, masters of none. I know some of you take all things Bill as gospel, but the Ravens and Steelers have won a lot of games that way without a Brady.

Interesting way to sum things up. I think it took a few hits this year. Meritocracy took a hit after keeping N'keal Harry on the field after he asked for a trade in the off season and stank pretty much all season. Discipline seemed lacking, we had a lot of penalties in big spots. Personally I hope we cut Harry and BB does more to limit the stupid penalties.

It ruins the entire team's morale to see the idiot OC keep pushing his binkie NKeal Harry over better players. Sours the locker room leaders too.

.

new firing today... and its not a surprise... Raiders canned Mike Mayock...

He really made some baffling picks, especially in the first round... Clelin Ferrell at number 4 overall was a real head scratcher

I'm shocked you can't just pluck the top TV draft analyst and have him be GM. Shocked.

Would Mike McCarthy of the Cowboys be at risk ?

They tried plucking both their head coach and their GM from guys on TV. Think we can retire that strategy now.

It was great when it happened. Knew from day1 it wouldn't work

We have movement...on the GM side. Daboll had been the presumed HC go to with Schoen, but there have been some Flores rumors recently too.

It should be interesting with the Bills. They have lost their #2 front office guy and possibly will lose both coordinators. I wonder how they handle a talent drain like this. Some teams keep running on all cylinders because the system is stronger than the people implementing it. Others take big step backs.

McDermott will find new people to yell at.

Daboll probably top of the list. Great OC. Wish he never left.
