reminds me of a modern day Flavio...
Fabio...good comparison...put Lawrence on the field in a pirate shirt with open collar too...then maybe you've got yourself a marketing campaign to increase female viewership. But what do I know...I've been married to the same woman for over 26 years so my ability to read the opposite sex may be verily skewed.

The number 3 pass defense in the league is suspect? Your perspective is skewed.
I get why you would say that and i see the stats but in terms of what i see i think it's true. They alluded to it in the post game show. Our think our schedule has had a had in the stats. I think we struggle against decent qbs. Allen torched us as did Mills and Preskott. We did ok against Brady and Herbert. There are games when we really struggle to get pressure. I'm not totally confident in it and i think the 3rd ranking flatters us a bit.

WR Bias is a real condition. There are probably peer reviewed studies...somewhere.

No question that as part of a team, WRs, especially good ones, can effectively be a weapon with which to win football games. I don't think anyone would ever question that. Where the bias comes in is the overall amount of impact said WR can have on the game in its entirety.

If the same teams' OL is terrible and gives the QB no time to throw or the opposing team otherwise accelerates the opposing QB passing timing is that WR still as able to impact a game as effectively?

Is the WR effectively removed due to consistent double teams making other aspects of the team have to produce to win?

WRs can be and sometimes are difference makers, but units (such as a defensive backfields) and teams (complimentary football) win games more consistently.
Something came up in last night's Min-GB game that caught my attention and the attention of the announcer. Davante Adams has a real knack for keeping the DB guessing on when the pass is coming by waiting until the last moment to bring his hands up for the catch. No wonder Rodgers likes him so much.

As I mentioned in the previous post my wife thinks he's weird looking. I agree with her, and not just because I have to.

It's a good skill that's taught much more now with the DBs being coached to disrupt the pass with the punch through approach when the WRs put their hands up to make the reception.

I'm not anti-WR. Far from it. I am anti-"WRs are the second most critical piece to winning football after the QB" which is seemingly a very common thought process further exasperated by fantasy football which completely removes all context from WR statistics.

My wife still swoons over TFB and I do have to agree with that on multiple levels.

If you were told before the 2021 draft started that Mac Jones would defeat Trevor Lawrence head to head by 40 points later that year, would you believe it? Now that it has come to pass, it makes it even all the more incredible that Mac Jones slipped to us at 15. Kid easily could have padded his stats more but he didn't need to because we were winning by SO MUCH that he could sit for most of the 4th quarter.

230 yards 3 TDs and 73% passing, leading us to 44 points while he was on the field by Mac Jones. Can't get much more efficient than that!

Right after the draft (or before?) I predicted that Mac Jones would be better than Lawrence.....but of course I also said that Wilson would be better than all of them! Oops...I had Wilson as number one (oops) and Jones as number two QBs in the draft and then a dropoff after that....I am not, ahem, an expert; this was all based on 60 seconds of college highlights, ha. All I do is look at their progressions, quick release and whether they can hit the WR without him breaking stride.

Also I evaluate WRs based on simple criteria, actaully just one criteria; can they get open. No sure why BB does not seem to have the same criteria. When I watched Harry's tape form college, almost all the catches were contested; these look spectacular but it means he was covered. When I looked at Waddle, I saw the opposite; he walked away from NFL-caliber CBs--it is terrifying that the Dolfiends got him.

Brady has a lot going for him, that's for sure.

One of my favorite moments was many years ago when I was at work and around a few co-workers when my wife came by to see me. One of my co-workers asked my wife if she was all excited that Robert Redford was going to be in Boston that day. She said, why would I get excited about seeing Robert Redford when I live with John. The looks on their faces were priceless.

Our 4th ranked pass D?
This season has gone about as well as it could, all things considered. We thought that the defense would hold the fort while the offense with new players and a rookie QB improved. I think that has happened.

I have some thoughts after watching other games.

I think Tannehill deserves more respect than he gets here.

I have to give kudos to those of you who were criticizing Matthew Stafford. I thought that he may have been saddled with a bad team in Detroit, which he was, but he blows. If the Rams win anything it will be in spite of him.

The same goes for Carson Wentz. I watched him heave one of the dumbest passes ever and the two defenders who were zeroing in on the INT at the goal line ran into each other and the ball bounced to an Indy WR for a TD.

I narrowed down my choices for the DBC (Dingleberry Betting Contest) to the Pats, TB, Philly, KC and GB. I decided against the Pats because I was worried that Bill might sit on a 14 point lead and they wouldn't cover. Luckily I chose GB, let it all ride and I doubled my stake.

I'm glad that the Pats are done with the Jets. They seem to be coming around. Hopefully they can pull it together against the Bills.

I can't believe how overrated the Lions are this year. They suck and still get ranked ahead of teams with more wins, in some cases twice as many. I wonder if that's being done to limit the fact that Aaron Rodgers plays in the worst division in football.

Speaking of Rodgers, you might have heard that he has a sore toe and is a real tough guy, especially when he's limping around for the cameras. He's the ultimate drama queen of the NYFL.

They say that teams take on the personality of their HC. That must explain all of the crying from the Bills players.

I'm trying to decide which of the dumb moves by coaches was the worst, there's been so many. At first I was thinking it was the Jets ridiculous decision to go for it on 4th and goal from the 2 up by 4 instead of taking the chip shot FG for a 7 point lead. But then I watched the Bungles get bailed out by the refs when they decided to go for it in a tie game with under a minute left, rather than take the potential game winning FG. The refs gave them a ticky-tack call on 4th down and that gave them enough downs to run out the clock before kicking the game winner.

There are RBs and there are QBs but if you combine them you have the RQBs, running QBs. How they doing these days?

And one last word. Don't forget to bet responsibly with the NYFL. They care about you and not every last dollar they can squeeze out of you. Just like my friend the bookie.

That number reflects the quality of qbs the patriots have faced.
And they have faced a similar quality of QBs as everyone else.

I truly want no part of Cincinnati. They have 3 excellent wideouts is Chase, Higgins, and Boyd. They have a very good/excellent RB in Mixon. Uzomah is decent at TE.

I didn't watch any of their games (caught highlights) but one has to question their O-line's pass blocking with Burrow having been sacked 51 times this year. And despite those 51 sacks, he's got two bonifide 1000 yard receivers and Boyd who is knocking in 900 yards..

I love the Pats, but we don't have the talent in our secondary to match up against that with Jonathan Jones out..

I'm going to print out your post for posterity.

Statistically yeah its 3/4th but i don't think that tells the whole story. we often struggle to get pressure and f we do its often a long day. happened against the Texans, Cowboys and Bills. My point was in response to people saying they were confident of beating the Bengals. Personally i think they would torch our 3rd ranking pass defense.
