Even as a massive Pats homer, they ran up the score on weak teams as a method to get additional reps for their rookie QB hence a higher PPG average than they probably really are. The question is can that diversity building approach pay dividends against the better competition?

As I said before the game today - it all depends on the OL. OL plays well, the Pats tend to play well.

Also...

Next week's approach will be a massive indicator. This does not seem to be a squad that can "take a week off" and turn the intensity and focus back on. The last game needs to prepared for and played like it too is required to get into the tournament regardless.
The chiefs ran up 48 and 41 against the Raiders so that kind of evens it out.

You think theyre holding the playbook back and are going to introduce new things they've never used?
Possibly . The first goal was to get to post season. Now we know this will not suffice in post season. So do something which nobody has planned for you. We have nothing to lose. Play free spirited ...

You can cherry pick from each contending team out there. They all scored a lot vs bad teams most of the time. It’s like saying, well, if you take away this, and take away that, then they’re really not that good. You can do that on the defensive side of the ball too. If you take away this game, and you take away that game, the defense gives up 25 points a game instead of 17. Bottom line, Pats have scored the 8th most points a game in the NFL, the #1 team has scored 32 more points than the Pats.

Mac Jones has sat out most of the 4th quarter numerous times , was only allowed to throw the ball 3 times against the Bills, and he still has the best stats of any rookie QB. How's that running up the score? We're pulling Mac and putting the backup QB in early in the 4th!

I don't disagree. As I stated it was a good opportunity to continue to get the rookie QB repetitions in an NFL environment. Whether that approach enables those repetitions to translate into his growth as a QB is a book yet to be written, but there were signs yesterday such as the delayed blitz which has been a weakness where Mac threw the great hot route (even though Bolden dropped it) which was the perfect read and looked to be able to really "burn" said blitz with good yardage.

How's that running up the score?
The Patriots historically will trade time for play type. They did much less of that this year keeping the entire playbook wide open when leading in the third quarter and onward by more than two scores.

My belief is to continue to expose Jones to more play types, looks, etc. What was the run pass ratio while Mac was still in vs the Jets, Browns and yesterday? How many of those passes were simply screens, slants and other high percentage "only pass on third down" plays?

Growth and maturation is a process, but one that can be sometimes accelerated through additional exposure to stimuli. There's a lot more stimulus in a continued full playbook (and additionally more opportunity to score rather than simply expend clock).

He was a top prospect for a few years in College. He would’ve had leverage to avoid going to a franchise like the Jags (if he made it known) because other teams would’ve made a deal with the Jags (say like the 49ers to get him). However, like all but Eli and Elway, they’d rather not fight it so they can be the #1 overall pick.
Maybe the Jags didn't want to do that.

Great to get back on track with a win and score some points but i do think we shouldn't be getting too carried away. We didn't learn anything yesterday that we didn't already know, that we can beat up on bad teams. People now saying we should beat the bengals in our current scenario are way off IMO. I think our pass D still looks suspect and we pretty much always lose if we go behind.

Damn it I love it when the Pats run up the score. I hope they get a chance to do it in the playoffs, especially if they meet up with the Bills in the rubber game, which is a real possibility in the first round.

I have always worn my hair long, and have no issue with it.

Trevor Lawrence's hair needs some serious work before I can take him seriously.. that and his headband makes him look like a complete and utter idiot.

He will probably be a very good NFL QB, but he's gotta do something with that hair and ditch the hairband.. reminds me of a modern day Flavio... maybe he can do oleo-margarine commercials. His flowing hair completely screws up that Subway commercial.

The number 3 pass defense in the league is suspect? Your perspective is skewed.

WR Bias is a real condition. There are probably peer reviewed studies...somewhere.

No question that as part of a team, WRs, especially good ones, can effectively be a weapon with which to win football games. I don't think anyone would ever question that. Where the bias comes in is the overall amount of impact said WR can have on the game in its entirety.

If the same teams' OL is terrible and gives the QB no time to throw or the opposing team otherwise accelerates the opposing QB passing timing is that WR still as able to impact a game as effectively?

Is the WR effectively removed due to consistent double teams making other aspects of the team have to produce to win?

WRs can be and sometimes are difference makers, but units (such as a defensive backfields) and teams (complimentary football) win games more consistently.

My wife thinks he's weird looking.
