We need an Edelman

This is flying under the radar.

Everyone talks about how difficult it is winning with a rookie QB, but how about winning with a rookie QB who has no binkie on the roster?

Mac is trying with Hunter Henry. Henry is a great piece, but he's not an every 3rd down answer. Brandon Bolden is not it either.

Meanwhile Mac throws the deep sideline pass as well as I've seen. How many have been caught this year and how many dropped?

Some thoughts (sorry if I am repetitive with others):
  • I think last week was an example of having a bad week can be a bad thing. I think the momentum the Pats had developed the previous seven games had gone and the Pats came out flat and we not focused. It took until the second half for this team to even show some semblance of the team they have been.
  • The Pats should have known they needed to come out to a fast start and didn't. The Colts are a front runner team and they only play well protecting a lead. I wish the Pats made it a game early or got a lead because Wentz absolutely sucks. He threw at least three balls last night that should have been picked (on top of the one that was intercepted) and he only threw 12 passes. If this became a shoot out between Jones and Wentz, the Pats would have won this game.
  • Jones did not have a great game, I was encouraged by his play in the fourth quarter. One of the biggest questions left about him is whether he can take the offense on his back and lead a comeback. He didn't succeed last night, but I don't think it was his fault. Several bonehead penalties and Belichick inexplicably not going for it on fourth and goal was his undoing.
  • I cannot believe the Pats have to keep Wynn for another year after this. And pay him well to boot. The worst GM move by Belichick this past offseason was picking up Wynn's fifth year option.
  • It doesn't show in the stat sheet, but overall I thought the defense played fairly well. The pass defense was stifling. And for most of the game, they did well against Taylor. Just the opening drive an of course that last TD run were where they really broke down.
  • That Taylor TD run is the risks of selling out against the run. You put everyone on the line. You gotta stop the runner at the line of scrimmage or the runner has a free path to the end zone because there is no one at the second level to stop him. Weird that the Pats have has been involved in two such plays this year (they did it to Buffalo). You don't see it often, Usually you see it when the offense is backed up into their own end zone and usually the defense is burned on a quick screen or a slant rather than actually a running play.
  • I still do not know why Kendrick Bourne is not a bigger part of this offense. Every time he touches the ball, he is making plays (even if they are called back because of stupid holding calls). I figured after Agholor went down, they would have used him more. He is the Pats' best WR. Bourne was targeted three times and caught all three for 44 yards while Meyers was targeted 12 times and caught six of them also for 44 yards (and he dropped a beautiful thrown ball that killed the drive instead of being a huge gainer). Plus Bourne had a 18 yard run.
  • It is time to replace Bentley with Collins. I think Bentley got too much crap last night from people considering he was out of the game most of the night, but I felt Collins had a pretty good game. He did tip two of Wentz's 12 passes (one ended up in an interception). And overall, he did a pretty decent job against the run.
  • Losing a game especially when you are fighting for the division and the first round bye is never a good thing, but I see there could be a positive for this loss. First, I think this would take any pressure off a team with a lot of younger players going into the playoffs if they were on a 11 game win streak. Also, I think it might help humble this team that was winning a lot of games with too much ease. It might give them more focus and drive going into the playoffs and not take anyone lightly.

I don’t know about anyone else but that blocked punt TD really makes me livid.

We won't see Tavai again after this season, possibly sooner.

I’m surprised the defense struggled so badly against a one dimensional offense.

Jonathan Taylor is the most overrated player in the NFL. Seems like a good guy and he’s a solid running back, but he does nothing special and the offensive line is 80% of the production.
I’m upset too but saying Jonathan Taylor is overrated is a reach. He’s solid and consistently had yards after contact in spite of wentz

Mac Jones: Patriots had a bad week of practice

that would explain it…

also, this performance coming off a bye week is shameful
At least hunter Henry came to play . I still wonder why we aren’t using Bourne more . He produces w the ball … is he just not physical enough ?

Jones can sneak a look as the play develops. After the play they showed Jones grabbing his helmet because he knew he chocked. Jones had 1 read and missed it - it happens, he is a rookie. It did develop too slowly but Mac could have still hit his 1 read. You may be off base on this one. You might want to watch the play again.

Jones didn't choke if that's what you meant to say. He knew he made the dumb mistake of staring down his receiver because Leonard read him like a book. He's had occasional problems with it, but that's part of being a rookie.

I'm proud of this team, we fought hard the second half but missed opportunities were the difference. The train has been derailed for the moment.

Jonathan Taylor is a really good player....I would love to play them again in the playoffs...I think the result would be different!

Mac had a rough 1st half, but rebounded nicely....a win next week and the division is ours, so we'll need to bounce back. Our rushing defense needs to be better, Hightower missed a big tackle on that td run.

The blocked punt was a killer!!

Tough loss but this team I think can bounce back......

Let's discuss.
No way that I want the Pats to play them again. They match up very well with us.
This also makes the Bills game HUGE. If the Pats also lose that game they could conceivably be out of the playoffs, depending on what happens in other games.

Reich is a former QB so he understands what it takes to play that position. Mac saw some things from Eberflus he might not have seen before. He looked confused at times. That’s a great learning experience. Still, if the punt team doesn’t give up a TD (!!!!!) the Pats have a good shot at stealing a win.
Neutral zone infraction of the Indy missed FG.

Disagree. Indy is a match-up I want in the playoffs. Good team, but TN is better, KC is better. Colts might not even make the playoffs.

We play a clean game we win.

Carson Wentz is bad

Win the division and we also get them at home in any rematch. I doubt they’re passing the Titans in the standings.
