OT: Gilmore still complaining about how the Pats treated his recovery

Don't understand this complaining to the media about medical/coaching staff issues on a previous team by a soon to be FA. To me it is bad optics even if they traded you to a team with little chance of a playoff showcase.

I don’t buy any of this crap. It’s hurt feelings because the team wouldn’t pay him like a superstar after he regressed as a player.

He had surgery in January or late December and was expected to be fully healthy before any offseason practices. Yet, he couldn’t practice with the team at all throughout training camp. He claims the team was unfair in requiring him to run 1.7 miles over the course of 3 days about 9 months after surgery in early October. And then was suddenly ready to play in an NFL game just 3 weeks after being traded to another team in late October. Complete nonsense.

He‘s upset as many NFL players are that their careers are short. One year he’s the defensive player of the year dreaming of another major contract, the next he’s past his prime. The Not For Long league. It’s a tough reality.

It’s really too bad Gilmore had to complain on the last year of his deal which ended up getting him nowhere. He couldn’t just play out his last year and then get his money in FA? Gilly got some bad advice or just made a terrible business decision. Now he’s irrelevant in Carolina and JC Jackson thanks him for that. Gilmore exiting now gives GM’s no more excuses to sleep on Jackson as he’s still racking up stats without Gilly’s presence. This was the biggest blunder in the offseason for the other 31 teams.

Bill with the 4d chess refusing to trade him to Tampa because he knew there was a chance the Pats could play them in the super bowl

I will also say that I genuinely believe (and believed in 2020) that Gilmore has lost a step. During 2020 he looked mildly checked-out and like he wasn't quite as quick/fast/athletic as years prior.

Gilmore’s trying to stay relevant, he’s on a loser of a team again after the Patriots rescued him from a loser… and he sees how well they’re doing without him.

Gilmore doesn’t want to admit this move was about money, money the Pats obviously didn’t need to spend.

Has anyone ever said when he slightly tore his quad? A quad tear would certainly slow one down.

This thread is so different from the “ Gilmore didn’t like the way the Patriots handled his injury” thread from 2 months ago. Can we have another just like it during the playoffs?

He isn't the first to complain about our doctors. Brady didn't trust our doctors after he tore his acl, Adalius Thomas, Gronk, and even Ted Johnson recently. I bet Gilmore is right, but I don't care. It is smart to never fully trust a team doctor whose allegiance is geared toward their employer. He is rich enough to get the best 2nd and 3rd opinions. From that point on it is up to him to refuse to run 3,000 miles if he feels it puts him at risk. Our team is all about business and winning so I don't blame any player that looks out for themselves. It is what it is.

Now that he is gone he should worry about being labeled a crybaby and hope his mouth doesn't make other teams leery of signing him. If he keeps running his mouth he might close the door on the type of reunion that Jamie Collins is currently experiencing with us.
Bill wouldn't not bring him back because he bad mouthed him. We've brought back guys that bad mouthed BB and Kraft before.

Just another reason I love me some BB. He makes the moves he feels will help the team. And while others cry, he heaps praise on them, then doesn’t discuss them. He doesn’t lower himself to their level.

Gilmore was an EXCELLENT signing. I have zero problems with BB trading him for peanuts when he started crying. SBs were won after the departure of A Thomas, R Moss, and others. We’ll see if another ring is in the cards before BB hangs em up…

Yeah, Brandon Spikes compared his first four years with the Patriots to slavery and the Pats still brought him back (until he left the scene of an accident involving injury to avoid a likely DUI).

BB had Gilly on a slow roll and wasn't going to put him in team drills until his contract situation was resolved.

Saying the NEP mismanaged his rehab is BS. If anything they were overly conservative.

If he wants to say his contract was the reason behind putting him on PUP them that would make sense.

He could've helped us this season, there's no denying... But he instead wanted to play hard-ball for an extra few $M and might've also thought that this was a sinking ship here... Too bad all around, because he very likely won't be offered what he ass-umed he would be offered next offseason, and he has nobody to blame but himself.

I think we are going to miss him when the playoffs come.

Gilmore is complaining that the Patriots made him pile up 1,200 steps per day for three days on his FitBit?

I usually rack up over 2,000 steps pacing during a typical Patriots game unless it's against the Jets, when I just eat nachos and read the Jets Suck thread.

Didn’t Gilmore play in his first game in Carolina? Seems to me whatever the Patriots demanded of him worked out for him. How about saying I wanted to leave because I wanted more money.

He's been playing, but not flashing at all.

It's been all about the money all along.

I agree it's bad optics.

The first thing the next team is going to want to do is get a workout from him, he's now on the record as someone who will publicly criticize team methods.

Personally I think he's speaking out due to frustration.

It seems he is figuring out his second bite of the apple isn't going to be as good as he thought it would be.

as for Gronk. I loved him when he was here but he straight screwed us. He might have been the missing piece in the playoffs Brady’s last year. He should publicly thank Bill for being able to resurrect his career in Tampa instead of being held by his contract with New England ( or staying retired).
I personally never cared for his antics, and didn’t find the “lovable meathead” thing funny, or endearing. Not a “prototypal patriot”. Find his smile goofy, and his spike celebration lame. Goat at the position tho. Diva as hell.

But as far as Gilmore goes, he knew what he was getting into from the jump. He knew pats can afford to be cheap. These players have connections and inside gossip well probably never hear, so like... take your ring and go.

that’s why I respected revis and other mercenary types because they take advantage of situations in the same way we appear to.

corporations and employers are not your friends. It’s a logo and a bunch of idealization and that’s it. They’ll screw you. Not a family.

He isn’t making any more money in Carolina. Originally it was about money. Now it’s about spite, it seems.

In a way it's good, at least Mills is getting reps and same goes for Bryant. Next man up . I hope we are able to sign JC to a long term deal. JC, Judon, Henry , Meyers, Bourne , barmore, Stevenson and Mac are the future . All others would be rotational pieces .

If only gunner could become like Edelman , we would hit a home run.. but maybe Bourne is that guy.
