I watched it twice on my DVR yesterday because it showed Vrabel sprinting for the locker room instead of hanging around doing the meet and greet thing, which looked odd to me. When I went back the 2nd time I saw a very quick handshake. I think BB looked like he wanted to have a bit of a chat but Vrabel was not in the mood to talk. BB had a bit of a look of disappointment but it didn't last very long, he was "on to" the next guy.Just re-watched: there was a handshake between them.
It won the SuperbowlI'd love to.
(1) the 2018 team floundered
We've reset many times with Brady here.(2) a reset was necessary
Which could have been the Patriots after a reset(3) Brady understandibly wanted to play for a "win now"
Which they could have done with Brady here.(4) NE got their stuff together and reloaded in the draft & FA
This is not about the Bucs(5) both teams are winning at a similar clip
Doesn't matter. You could make that argument to kick out Brady 10 years ago.(6) despite Brady's unique excellence and longevity, it's LIKELY Mac will still be in the league in 4-5 years, whereas Brady LIKELY won't.
You're right. We're probably far better than 8-4.I love me some Brady, but I unlike many posters, I'm not IN love with him. I don't think NE is 8-4 with Brady in 2021 because I don't think the reset occurs to the point it did if he stuck around.
Agreed. Will stop posting on this topic here. Can we not turn this into another Brady/Belichick thread?
Heehee. 2019. Obviously mistyped. I clearly loved that spunky 2018 team.It won the Superbowl

Cheers! We're all on the same side.Heehee. 2019. Obviously mistyped. I clearly loved that spunky 2018 team.
I don’t agree with the other arguments, but I understand what you are saying.
Not even close. We can replace DMac and Jonnu Smith’s salary with Brady.
It’s not either/or. We’ve been reloading the teams many times in past two decades while having Brady here.
Lol for real! Ask him about gunners on kickoffs, punt coverage or for that matter left vs right footed punters and you'll get 20 minutes of gold! That's belied by the fact that when someone does slip an interesting question in, he's fully capable of going for 20 minutes in answer.
Fixated much ? Wait, are you DKF?Agreed. Will stop posting on this topic here.
Let's appreciate BB (despite his bad past GM decisions, like releasing Brady).
Vrabel was all smiles after the playoff win and quickly ran to the locker room after a quick handshake with BB.Agree. I watched it twice on my DVR yesterday because it showed Vrabel sprinting for the locker room instead of hanging around doing the meet and greet thing, which looked odd to me. He didn't release Brady.Let's appreciate BB (despite his bad past GM decisions, like releasing Brady).
One year after taking a down year to right the cap BB has them back in contention... the anti-BB crowd are reeling, you can see how many voices are suspiciously absent from these pages or pretending they weren't talking smack all offseason. Hilarious...
They are all in the Bucs sub-forum these days. The vast majority of their posts are Bucs related. Not sure why they come here to begin with if they only liked the Patriots because of Brady.
Should BB be coach of the year, I'm not sure, probably every year he could win it:
We don't have what we have now unless they clear cap space in 2020 and move on... they simply don't. They were borrowing to win from 2014-2019 and that wasn't sustainable. Imagine that 2020 team with no Thuney, DMC and more... that team isn't good, Brady or no.
Moving on was exactly the right thing to do. It worked out best for both player and team. After watching franchise stalwarts like Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson retire early because that dumpster fire of a franchise wouldn't let them go elsewhere and play for a ring, one should feel grateful the Patriots did things the right way... I'm sure in time Tom will recognize this if he doesn't already, I suspect he does.
Can we not turn this into another Brady/Belichick thread?
A 2 year turnaround is fantastic. We may not be an elite team but we're a playoff contender again after only one year of being really a noncontender.
He's really done some impressive work as a GM in the last 24 months. as a GM alone Bill is in the upper echelon of league executives. Throw in his incredible accomplishments on the field and there is no way he's not in Canton the moment he asks to be.
I've said this many times before but I have a sneaking suspicion that as the physical toll of being a head coach gets to be too much for him, Bill might kick himself upstairs to be a GM and advisor, and let his son/McD/a younger HC who'll listen to him handle the operations on the field and/or the more physical side of coaching.
Brady just reworked his deal this offseason to keep Tampa's team intact... it doesn't change the immutable fact he signed for 2 years at 50 million guaranteed in 2020. It also doesn't change the fact he pushed a bunch of his cap debt down the road this offseason to keep them intact... or the exact thing the Patriots had been doing for years and were actively avoiding in 2020.On what planet do you NOT want the NFL MVP on a below market contract?!?!?!
You moved on from a player than will be NFL MVP this year.
While his team is sitting #16 on cap hits for QBs. Clearly keeping or hiring Brady was a fantastic call. We could have made that call.
