Aaron Rodgers positive for COVID (update: “furious” status leaked, claims he didn’t lie, attacks NFL protocols)

$20K fine for uniform infraction, $14K for COVID Protocol infraction. Way to defend the shield, NFL.

That's OK. Wait and see what they hit Mac Jones with. Guessing since he's a Patriot, he'll definitely be getting fined more than Rodgers this week.

There's no vaccine for a twisted ankle. Of course, if there was, Aaron Rodgers wouldn't take it.

Ohhhhhhh.... so if it is "only a few minutes of someone's life" then we punish them by withholding health care... but if it something like smoking which someone does for decades, then they get health care like everyone else.

Yeah that makes sense.

So what about people that engage is statistically risky behavior, such as motor cycle riding and sky diving? If someone gets into a motorcycle accident, why should they get treatment when they so willingly put themselves at high risk?

All I am asking is for some logic and consistency from those who advocate the unvaccinated going to the back of the line. I am still waiting to see just a shred of same.
You know my favorite thing on the internet: when someone who thinks himself superior throws out nasty comments like this - previous to this, the only thing remotely negative I said was that the comparison of COVID to smoking was a "fool's errand," which means pointless, and then offered the reasons why - then feigns his outrage when he gets clapped back.

Does this post of yours seem a polite debate?

So let's dissect it a bit: again, you act like I said we should withhold healthcare from them, which I explicitly did not say. Then the (oh so adult) emoji train. And your last paragraph has nothing at all to do with anything I said.

PS. Shooting around on the internet thinking you're smarter than someone you've never met is another fool's errand.

This is what I don't understand:

“The New Orleans Saints will forfeit their sixth-round selection in the 2022 NFL Draft and will be fined $700,000 for violations of the NFL-NFLPA COVID protocols during the 2020 season,” McCarthy wrote in an email to PFT. The Saints faced league discipline for celebrating in their locker room after a game with multiple players and coaches not wearing masks. The Raiders were also disciplined during the season for COVID-19 violations. It is unclear whether they will lose a draft pick.

How can GB have no picks docked?

oh no!! The mean man used emojis in the response to you!!!!! That certainly justifies personal attacks.     (<=== see what I did there?)

All your runaround and personal attacks do nothing to remove me from my thesis, which I have stated several times now: My opinion is that unvaccinated people should still be treated like anyone else if they get Covid. There should be no punishment, no moving them to the back of lines, no burden they have to share that others don't, no withholding care, etc, etc.

Why the above upsets so many people so much remains a complete mystery.

Because you're not arguing in good faith. Bad driving increases car insurance. Smoking increases health insurance and life insurance.

Asking someone to take a bit of responsibility for a reckless action (and yes, not getting vaccinated in a pandemic is reckless - the numbers are overwhelming) isn't a denial of service or some unfair punishment.

I agree with the general point about the double-standard and especially the highlighted in yellow, but the notion Rodgers "contributed to a public heallth crisis" is a laughable exaggeration.

“When you’re a celebrity, you are given a platform,” said Dr. Paul A. Offit, the director of the Vaccine Education Center at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “When you choose to do what Aaron Rodgers is doing, which is to use the platform to put out misinformation that could cause people to make bad decisions for themselves or their children, then you have done harm.”

^He's not wrong, you know.

Can we at least start a letter-writing or email or whatever campaign for all the tv guys to nickname him A Positive?

I mean, it seems like pretty much the harshest thing that will happen to him.

Last year, the Patriots and the Titans were fined $350k for violating COVID protocols, the Saints were fined a total of $700k and the Raiders a total of $800k. Other teams were fined, as well, and Payton, Gruden, and Tomlin were also fined. I believe the league was heavy-handed with punishments last year because there was no vaccine and they wanted/needed teams to comply with the guidelines to give them the best chance of playing a full season.

I can't think of a reasonable argument for why the Packers got off lighter than teams did a year ago. There's a vaccine now, so an unvaccinated player like Rodgers violating the protocols is less likely to infect, say, 10 other teammates. The fact remains though, that he was violating the guidelines and Green Bay's approach seemed to be to ignore it and hope Rodgers never tested positive. The minimum penalty for Green Bay should have been $500k and a late round pick.

Nah. They conducted a thorough investigation and they didn't see enough to warrant a sharper penalty.

Sure they did....

The thing with Rodgers is that not only did he violated protocol... but he lied about his vaccination status, the league and the Packers knew it and they did not take action AT ALL until he got sick.

The reason why the league is not being more severe is because THEY are hugely part of the **** up. They considered Rodgers unvaccinated, therefore knew he had to follow the unvaccinated protocol, and let him break the rules for 8 weeks. Someone at the NFL office should be fired over this. But nothing will happen because a large proportion of the USA, ie of their fans, is into the same antivaxx bs as Qaron.

That, and he'll have to spend the rest of his life being a total douchebag.

Yeah other teams lost draft picks. Other than the NFL dropping the ball and instead of admitting that, decided to not hit GB hard because we surely do not want to upset Rodgers who will cry about it no matter what.

Yeah, it's interesting. The messaging of "we take COVID seriously" was considered done by making the rules. The above/better-than-the-law crowd has a ready-made NFL messiah in Rodgers. They're also the crowd that thinks their right to swing their fist trumps your nose's right to exist and will cry -- literally -- in court about how threatening they found your nose. I look forward to A Positive refusing to pay his fine and becoming some kind of cause celebre.

It took the league 4 months to investigate the Pats filming Bengals debacle that all happened within an hour with multiple witnesses.

It took them a couple of days to investigate 8 weeks of film inside GBs facilities to monitor covid violations.

The NFL has ZERO credibility when it comes to this crap but they continue to get away with whatever the fv&k they want. There's no accountability.

Bendover Bob has no problem with Tom Brady being raked over the coals for the laws of physics while Aaron Rogers, Guilty As Charged of violating a league claimed important health & safety rule (sic) skates free.
I despise the NYFL and the 32.
