The good news is that 3 of our loses are against NFC teams. If we had won against Cowboys on Sunday we would have been the 7th seed.

I’m an optimist so I say 9-8 with hopefully good luck in the tiebreaks to get in the playoffs.

A. Games we most likely lose- lac, buf x2
B. Tough games but winnable - cle, ten, Indy,
C. Games we got to win- NYj, Jax, atl, car, Mia

Optimistic goal- win 2 outta 3 in group b. Either win all of group c or steal one in group a in case of a letdown there.

Have Faith Brothers and Sisters...

til it happens or it doesn't, 11-0
1-0 11 times in a row. Well at that point it would need to be 14 or 15 times in a row depending upon seeding

Optimistic Prediction:
Jetes = Win
Chargers = Loss
Panthers = Win
Browns = Win
Falcons = Win
Titans = Win
Bills-Home = Win
Bills-Away = Loss
Colts = Win
Jaguars = Win
Dolphins = Win

More likely/realistic:
Jetes = Win
Chargers = Loss
Panthers = Win
Browns = Loss (depending on status of mayfield/chubb)
Falcons = Win
Titans = Loss
Bills-Home = Loss
Bills-Away = Loss
Colts = Loss
Jaguars = Win
Dolphins = Win

Or i guess i could categorize them into

Games we "should" win:
Jetes
Jaguars
Dolphins
Falcons

Games we "should" lose:
Chargers
Browns (depending on status of mayfield/chubb)
Bills-Away
Titans

Games that are 50/50
Colts
Panthers
Bills-Home

43 votes so far and 32 of them think we have 6 or less wins from here and hence have another losing season this year. Interesting.

Not Good!

Not really. There is a negative tone on the board these days.
Yea but when you have stuff that hasn't happened around these parts since before the 1st dynasty and even before Bill, there's not a lot to be positive about (except for Mac):
  • 2-4 start (aside from last yr) not since Belichick's 2000 season.
  • 0-4 straight home losses not since pre-Belichick 1993 Patriots.
  • 445 passing yards are most ever allowed by the Belichick Patriots.
  • Cowboys' first win over the Patriots under Belichick and first win against them on the road since 1987.
  • Patriots record when leading in last 2 minutes of a game was 128-3. They lost.

3 wins imo

Tampa and Dallas tried their best to lose to us... and we still lost

Miami and New Orleans aren't that great and we still found a way to lose... so you can't use "we played great teams" as an excuse

And we did not look good against Houston and Jets... the two teams we beat, who have a combined record of 1-9

Most teams that constantly find ways to lose close, usually finish between 4-7 wins.

And our schedule gets tough after the Jets game, so we won't be able to build much momentum and confidence to help us close out games.

Plus. Based on ways Breer said (which is something some of us suspected), yeah... not looking good. Players aren't going to have that high of a motor if we are 3-5 at some point.

5-12 imo, plus or minus 1 win

Lol. I can 100% guarantee you the Patriots will win more than five games. Patriots are a good team that has had some terrible luck and some very questionable play calling that I think will improve throughout the year.

Buccaneers and Cowboys are probably the two best teams in the league. Saints are a team we always struggle with. Losses to the Folphins are nothing new.

Patriots will most likely go 8-3 the rest of the way with losses at Chargers, at Buffalo, and maybe someone weird like Carolina- though I can very easily see a scenario where the Patriots get a galvanizing win in LA and go 10-1.

regardless, I’d bet the mortgage Patriots win more than 5 games lol

Beltalowda!

sorry, too much the Expanse marathoning. I like it though baratneh.
If we lose to the Jets then it's time to #BlowForThibodeaux :) The Texans win may come back to bite us though.
fun fact, in Louisiana they have these 2 characters in all their jokes, Boudreaux and Thibodeaux.

Unifying fun fact 2, in constructing the Belter language in The Expanse, the idea was to create a patois from many different languages, and French is represented by the inclusion of "l'eau" in Beltalowda (literally, Belter Water.)

Just saw Villanueva's Dune last night. It kept really close to the book. First half of it, anyway. Kind of nice, because my memory of Dune as a movie was that monstrosity with Agent Cooper as Paul. Now that's a sequel to look forward to (last half of Dune.) Clearly, that gives them about 6 movies just with the ultra-canonical first 3 books.

I saw it too... Gonna post later about it after a rewatch on HBO Max today.

And fwiw, I liked the Alan Smithee version of Dine, warts (on the barons face) and all lol

shame on those of you who think the pats are only going to win 2-3 more games...

Was that the one on cable? Sci-fi channel?

3-4 more wins which would be quite alarming given the amount of money spent.
1. It's a strategic choice to spend on contracts now (for some 2 dozen players, mind you) during a cap reflecting a historical 1-year dip in revenue. Given the available information (e.g., barring a collapse of the league where losing 7+% of revenue year over year keeps happening,) this appears to be an exercise in spending in a comparatively deflated market.

2. Despite (1), we haven't targeted any legit superstars, and haven't paid anybody top tier money.

3. The money spent has a horizon of several years, not one year.

4. This is not the "spend all your money on three great players" strategy or something you seem to envision. There are recognizable names in there but not generational talents.

We bought contracts while they were cheap. We reloaded during a year when it was smart to reload. The same math pertains as always in terms of hits and misses.

And we've put together a team that's contending its game... just not winning them, yet.

Stop referencing one offseason spend as if it's a desperation "throw money at the problem" move. Of course everybody wants to yield the spoils sooner not later. TE Hunter Henry has a TD in the last 3 games. He's on a 3 year,$37.5m deal with the Pats. He's also by all accounts gelling with Mac Jones. By present indications, he's a good expenditure of lolly, bones, or bangers and mash, as Elton John would say to Nas X. All I hear on here the last few games is "Oh woe is us Jonnu Smith isn't producing." ($50m over 4 years. Still room to catch on, you ask me.)

Do you think I can close the book on Hunter Henry and fit him for a SB ring or 3 and a Hall of Fame jacket, because he's had some okay games? No. This team's been together 6 games. That's it. You're trying to stretch it into a referendum on a 3-4 year strategic move (and based on guesses of fans on a bulletin board.)

I'm in the 5-6 category of guess myself, and I agree with whoever said that TB and Dallas are among the toughest teams, if not the 2 best, in the league. I'd say the 2 Bills games are realistically Ls this year, unless we catch fire. Browns and Chargers are also realistically Ls. There's your ceiling of 6 from here on out. "Realistic" changes on a dime, however, and I'm open to being pleasantly surprised with how they gel. By the same token, they can lost to crap teams going forward.
