BB on whether he thinks he would have the same success without Brady: "Of course not"

They lost 5 more games than the year before. Unless you go 16-0, thats bad. If you are a team and you win a number of games and the next year you lose 5 more than before, something went wrong. The pats played 4 playoff teams that year against a .386 schedule and lost 3 of the 4.
That team is 15-1 or 14-2 with Brady and likely wins the Super Bowl. Horrible schedule and just a weak year in general.

I think the defense took a big step back in 08 but they definitely win the division and who knows what happens from there.

I'm wondering what has been shown this year that would say the pats will go 3-0 vs those teams. lol

"Should" versus "will".

Jets - suck
Chargers - soft, owned by the Patriots for a decade, destroyed 45-0 by the Patriots last season
Panthers - missing McCaffrey (or him having to shake off the rust after finally getting back on the field), 3 straight losses, New England should be a trap game for them (Div foe week before, Cardinals week after)

The chargers and the pats are not the same teams that the pats owned for a decade. The pats owned everyone for a decade, this is not that team. The pats have beat two teams this year, both of those teams are two of the worst in the league and they should have lost one of those.

Yeah no question the Jets are bottom feeders and the Panthers are a below average team. The Patriots should be able to handle them both, but I'm guessing the Panthers are either favored against them or it's basically a pick em. The Chargers will be interesting because they are objectively the stronger team; the 45-0 win last year without Brady should inspire a lot of confidence, but the Patriots had also won 6 in a row vs. the Cowboys and 4 in a row vs. the Bucs. They were 109-2 when leading at home at halftime and lost their last two. They seem to be on a mission to break historical trends of success

To repeat, and expand:

The Patriots beat the **** out of the Chargers, 45-0, last year, and we have been assured by many that the Patriots significantly improved in the offseason, with a great draft combined with a tremendous free agent period with a record amount of money spent.

The Patriots absolutely "should" beat the Chargers. The game "shouldn't" even be close.

I mean the pats should have beaten the texans by more than a couple points too, but that didnt happen. Chargers are better than the texans

No excuses, man. Brady's been gone a year, BB's had his rebuild, BB is the "Bestest coach ever!", and the opponents all have major issues.

A win's a win, and each week is a new story. When did that become something unknown around here? I mean, the SB winning 2018 Patriots lost a regular season game to the 5-11 Jaguars, 6-10 Lions, and 7-9 Dolphins.

No excuses

When was the last time the pats lost 4 straight home games? Yeah sorry its hard for me to say, oh this is normal. Yeah a win is a win and a loss is a loss. The pats are 2-4, with their only two wins coming against the bottom feeders of the NFL. Sorry but until that gets better, why would I say, oh the chargers? Yeah we got that. jets, yeah they should beat them, would it shock me if they didnt? Not really.

You keep making irrelevant arguments. Why?

2018 Patriots lost 5 road games to non playoff opponents. Each team that beat the Patriots would go on to lose the next week.

Yet they still won the SB.

I don't know if that has ever occurred. But it does show that every week is a new and different challenge.
