Patriots officially sign Jamie Collins

Chase sure has been on the field a lot more than I expected so I would be surprised if he’s traded.
He's averaging about 18 snaps a game. About a quarter of the plays.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him traded - never thought BB liked him all that much and other teams value what he can do more than the Pats do.

My post was focused on one thing only - that is that you've become some sort of manual auto-bot who automatically starts typing Monty Beisel and Gary Guyton every damn time Bentley's name is mentioned. It's tedious.

Bentley is not a good player. Sorry that rubs you the wrong way. The run defense is not good and Bentley needs to play less or not at all. Extremely glad they just picked up Jamie Collins who will also make Hightower a lot better too.

Seems like only yesterday when the narrative du jour was how Hightower's return in 2021 would elevate the front 7.
Now his fortunes are apparently reliant on a released player shed by an awful team who preferred him off their roster

Always been curious why the Patriots cheerleader outfits resemble the Puerto Rico state flag.

The color scheme does not flatter.
The design resembles decorator curtains on the Ringling Bros train.

Bob needs to consult Pimp Daddy Jerrah on color/design schemes

B/c the Puerto Rican flag uses the colors of the United States flag, and the United States flag is sort of the theme for the Patriots.
just to confirm and comfort cap worriers

Thank you. So we could have scraped by and got him on the roster without at the same time ditching that cornerback what's-his-name.... not very comfortably, but could have happened.

Looks like Collins gets to prove himself one more time, either to us or to the next suitor. His over-the-top excitement about being back, and his saying he is "behind" and needs to work to get worked back into the D, makes me think he is being challenged to show his value. Or maybe it's the placeholder deal while they work on something longer term.

yep. it was not related although it was “convenient“ circumstance..

Trade deadline fast approaches and the team might have to make some moves. They didn't say goodbye to Gillie for Collins, but they wanted that CAP - or maybe he told them he'd sit out until week 11 to get him million/game.

I don't know. it sucks that he's gone. I still think he's a + player for the next couple of years, even if the physical skills deteriorate, as expected. Gilmore's technique was impeccable and he has the length and strength to take on anyone.

As mentioned - they could/can create cap for needs in season . but they are limited doing it automatically (just this specific season).

They could've made it elsewhere but (my guesstimation) it was convenient time to resolve the standoff with Gilly.

Both Gilmore's agent and Pats played it by the book which meant goodbye.

Collins is playing for no compensation, and is charging the patriots as little as the league allows.

So, yes, Collins is a fine pickup, even as a backup. Of course, we hope for more, and he does also. Collins would like to get paid next year here or elsewhere.

We add Collins to the #6 Defense in the NFL. He should make up for Anderson and Bentley. Bentley should be back,

This always reminds me of my brush with the Dallas Cowboys. Was doing security training in preparation for the 94 World Cup in Dallas and was embedded with the Dallas PD. As luck would have it Dallas won the Super Bowl and the parade gave us a superior training opportunity in crowd management.

So we're looking to station plainclothes on every truck and I amble up to the lead truck - Aikman, Smith and Irvin and a few others. I'm getting up on the truck and Irvin takes one look at at me and says: "No F^%$# pigs on my truck." There would be a ton of politics involved with explanation and the whys and everything so I just said: "Okay.".

The point - I just ambled over to the cheerleaders truck. Probably should've done that from the start.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Chase out of town with Judon's dominance, the growth of Uche, etc.
And .0000002 seconds later being second guessed if there's an injury just like Michel right? Or alternatively why it wasn't a higher pick in return?

I suspect that Belichick prefers him to Tavai.

I wonder what aroused that suspicion? Could it be the fact that Bentley is best ILB on the roster atm and Tavai blew his one play on D?
