And the penalties would be much less of an issue if the officials hadn't completely sucked in a couple of these early games.
The officiating is getting worse each year and I don't understand why. It's not like they're expanding and hiring new ones all the time.

If MVP is truly most valuable and not who compiled the most stats, I don't know how it's not Brady. The entire org from the owner, GM, to the coaches and players credited him for changing their losing culture into a championship culture.

It's not even MVP for the whole season as the vote is taken after the 13th or 14th game. So it doesn't matter how they play in the 2 or 3 games of the most important part of the season.

This extends to the pro bowl too. Pro bowler Kyler Murray choked in the last few games last year and was the major reason why the Cards missed the playoff. While Brady played the best he ever has and the Bucs came together to be an unstoppable juggernaut. But none of that matters for the MVP and pro bowl. Being clutch and rising to the challenge is just so overrated.

It doesn't help that the league keeps adding/changing rules, and making those additions/changes subjective (i.e. taunting emphasis).

I wanted to post this here too. This is everything we all have been saying about Bill's poor team mgmt over the last several years.

Yeah, the personnel department has been sorely lacking for years, particularly on the offensive side. Now that Brady isn't around to cover it up, it has come home to roost making the Pats a mediocre team. Many on the main forum think this years Pats team could easily be 3-1 and still be a playoff team. The Bucs played the Pat's at their worst and still won, a playoff team would have kicked the Bucs a%$ last Sunday.

If the Pat's neglect or bungal the offensive players around Mac (like they did with Brady for much of his last few years), they will be mediocre for years to come.

I'll put this here so our forum brethren don't freak out over a critical analysis.

I was watching Cowerd with Greg Cosell earlier this week and Cosell said that Brady missed a lot of throws that he normally makes and his performance had nothing to do with what Belichick did to confuse him. I wanted to watch some film and ran across the below analysis of the Bucs offense. You can see in the film that Brady misses a lot of throws to open receivers. There were also several drops for big gains and miscommunication with his receivers. From watching the film and others:

1. AB consistently burned JJones. He ran right past him at least three times; the two TD passes he missed/dropped, and on the catch by Evans on the crossing route where AB again ran past JJ and was wide open for another easy TD. Brady also sailed two short passes to the right where AB was again wide open.
2. Brady wasn't connecting with Brate: the over throw where he's wide open on a crossing route to the sideline; and a dropped pass, again wide open on a seam route. His overthrow in the EZ to Brate, possible communication issue there.
3. Evans dropped pass in the RZ, again wide open, possible TD.
4. Tyler Johnson quitting on his route after beating the CB, pass sails high.

Aside from the emotions of this game (return to Foxboro) and the nasty rain, Brady just played poorly. I agree with Cosell, Brady wasn't confused at all, he just missed passes that he would normally complete or his receivers dropped them; but for the most part they were wide open.

After watching this film, I'm not sold on Pats secondary. Aside from JC Jackson who is a good CB, I don't trust Mills at all. Something is wrong with JJ. I saw him hobbling during the game, was he maybe injured? This secondary could be exposed by guys like Prescott with Lamb/Cooper/Schultz and Herbert with Williams/Allen/Cook.

Also, look at Judon during the run plays. Not impressive.

Miami is such a dumpster fire of an organization.

First, the owner came out to declare that he has no interest in acquiring Brady. They just shut the door on their best chance at a SB without any serious thought.

They draft the worst QB of the 1st round in Tua. Being injury prone and coming back from a major injury should have been a red flag.

Their bridge/backup QB, Fitzpatrick, outplayed Tua and made Miami a legitimate playoff contender. So what do they do? They bench him and make Tua the starter. Bye bye playoff spot.

They had 3 1st round picks in 2020 I believe. All busts so far.

Hope they stay at the bottom of the league and will laugh when they start another rebuild with another coach for the umpteenth time in the last 20 years.

To be honest it's hard to take positions like this when the Pats are 1-3 with one of the worst offensive OLines and worst run defenses.

It was pouring rain which I think explains a lot. Pats were lucky the Bucs didn't score 28

The offense as a whole played poorly one would think the return probably had Brady more emotional than a Superbowl game.

Greg Bedard said the same thing about Brady, and that he didn’t think Belichick did anything to confuse him.

What a find by Litch. Kid is pretty good, not as good as Brown or Wynn, but still pretty good.

Lot’s of chatter, not just last offseason but for a few years before that, of Russell Wilson and the Seahawks being dissatisfied with each other. Seeing Wilson’s recent play, I no longer think he’s good enough to win a championship barring a ton of luck. Not a guy who is taking the Seahawks anywhere as they pay him $35M. That offense is quite good, but his hold-hold-chuck style has gotten even worse. They can’t sustain real drives and rely on some razzle dazzle deep pass. He’s still a top 10 QB but his stats belie how many issues he also causes with his style.

Now that he’s reportedly out 6+ weeks, I wonder if the trade talks get a lot more serious. Let’s say the team is out of contention and just holds him out and finishes with ~5-6 wins. A top 10 pick. Wilson’s dead cap hit of $26M isn’t that bad for a typical superstar contract. It was $58M last year, making it a non-starter. It appears that division will be brutal for a few years, and they seem to be an also-ran bubble playoff contender at absolute best. Team may prefer to start over and Wilson must know the last years of his prime are a dead end in Seattle.

Nope BB laid out the frame work on stopping Brady

Now that Brees retired, I see you've moved on to Wilson. Keep it going. Lol

Different situations. Brees was cooked. Wilson is still good…but he’s not going to carry them anywhere. He’s better off on a team with a real defense…and also, not even sure how much having superstar WRs matter to him with his style. Seattle doesn’t seem like a good fit for him. He has flaws, but I’d be thrilled if he were NE’s quarterback. My post was more about the trade situation than just crapping on his play…my point about his play style/level is it sets up a possible breakup. Seattle should rebuild and have expressed in the past their willingness to move on; Wilson could find a great team waiting for a high level QB.
