OT: Official 2021 Tompa Bay Gronkaneers Thread

I agree but Agahlor has been open a ton down the field as have our other receivers. I don't know what is making him gun shy but I agree with Ice in that defenses are just going to sit in the box all game if there is no threat of a ball beyond 15 yards. We are 26th in points scored. He does not seem to have any chemistry issues throwing the ball short which is also interesting. There is just something about go deep. Maybe his arm strength? His confidence? I don't know but these next 2 games are a good chance to let him rip it.
I'm not saying there aren't concerns with him. I've raised concerns about him possibly being risk averse based on comments from a poster that watched him in Bama. The lack of zip in his passes could've easily resulted in 2 or 3 more INTs on Sunday (possible pick 6). Let's see how he does in the next four games.

Wilson has started to dramatically improve. That kid has a hell of an arm and can make any throw. Mac has started off as the best rookie QB because he's been steady eddie and minimized TO (though 4 INT in last 2 games is concerning). Maybe Josh is trying to protect him until he develops more, before he cuts him loose. I'd like to see him throw more passes into tight windows but he doesn't seem comfortable with that yet.

I've noticed a lack of zip on some throws. That's why jury is out until at least full 2nd season where he's done an NFL off season regimen.
I'm a Mac Jones fan.

When Stidham is named starter over Mac next summer I'll be going on an I Told You So tour of the board.

I don't think they are protecting him because of the Oline, he's shown he can get rid of the ball under pressure. I think this is what it is. Not a horrible thing but he doesn't look like a top rookie of this era. People love comparing him to Tom, but that was a century ago when the game was totally different. Tom would of gotten the field goal last Sunday too. The top QBs of the last 5 year is what you need to compare him to. Does he looks like that? We'll see after the whole season. Can they win scoring 20 pts a game in today's game? Can they improve on that? This isn't 2001.

If there was ever a game to let him throw it deep, it was Sunday vs that JV secondary and the only long throws we had were from Meyers. It is just too difficult to try to manufacture points the way we are doing it which is why IMO you are seeing the TOs and penalties. The degree of difficulty is just insane drive after drive.

At this point I would take Mac over every other rookie besides Trevor but the sample size is too small.

Tampa just has no secondary left. I am shocked the pats could not score 20 points when they have been giving up over 30.

Bucs defense gave up 17 points AND under 300 yards. It shouldn’t have been a close game.

You guys are messing with the post-game narrative being spun around the league.

He'll be fine. He caught 82% of passes last season. He's got good hands. Him and Brady were just off in that game.
He's been fine as the second tight end on the field. This week, he was the TE1, and he sucked harder than a Dyson.

Why isn’t Gronk on IR? Seems crazy to even consider playing him less than a month after injury.

From what little I've read on it so far, the thought is that he might be able to return for the Eagles game.

Rightfully so but the Bucs will get a 10 day mini bye afterwards! So I'll hold him out until the Bears game!

That's Arians just talking nonsense.

Gronk won't go for it as one of the reasons he retired was because he felt he was rushed back too soon after injuries.

His leak to the press about his injuries was a passive aggressive statement to the coaches not to rush him back until he is sufficiently healed.

Ribs take, what, at least 6 weeks to heal? And for a guy like Gronk, he can expect to take some more big hits to them as the season goes on. This seems insane to consider rushing him back in 3 weeks. It’s bad enough they played him after the injury because their Xerox machine X-Rays showed no damage. He was back on the field within minutes…how would a medical staff not realize the damage could be there even if not on that kind of scan? Put him on IR for at least six weeks.

The team has worked the roster system as if they think it's possible. Generally speaking, teams aren't going to play roster games just to keep clearly inferior teams (Dolphins, Eagles). That doesn't mean that Gronk's a guaranteed return, but it does likely mean that they have hopes that he'll be back in less than 4 weeks.

Depends on the fracture. If it is a hairline fracture probably 3 weeks.
