I’ve seen patriot teams with worst talent have better results on the field.

This ^ is an indecipherable mess?
Talent could be better, but even if not... they can still play better. HT disappointed so far. He’s the best lb. take him out the unit sucks. Wr sucks (not blaming anybody but it does). The tes are cool but, disappointing...

easy. Don’t be a troll.

That was 2014 Matt. CTE setting in?
The first time you’ve ever corrected me on anything and it was a typo… time to celebrate your first win.

WR sucks? When don’t weapons suck here, this is the crowd that regularly thinks teams play on paper and fantasy football is the same as the real thing.

TE’s are cool but disappointing… the blocking is disappointing, the penalties are disappointing, Jonnu played one bad game.

Hightower sucks, but if you take him out the unit sucks… makes sense. Bentley, Uche, KVN and Winovich are no good… take your zoloft.

Which year was the KC debacle then?
Don’t know what you’re talking about, but it was fairly common for Patriot teams to play poorly the first four weeks of a new season… even with that other QB.

Agreed.

On the day they went 2-2 in 2014, they all looked bad.
Yes but the QB & TE were established All Pros at that time.

They had the personnel to do better.

And they did.

How deep is your love?
I really mean to learn
Cause we’re living in a world of fools
Breaking us down when they all should let us be
Pats belong to you and me

Look, I’ve seen you on here doing your thing.

im not interested. Didn’t even read this. Leave me alone.

At 2-2 in the Fall of 2014, the entire team looked finished. QB or no.
Another good example is late in 2018 when the Pats lost to Pitt. Some posters here were flat out declaring that season dead then.

On paper this isn’t a super talent deficient team. Aghlor, Bourne, meyers are solid not elite but solid receivers. David Andrews is a pro bowl center, Isaiah Wynn was a first round draft pick 3 years ago. Hunter Henry and Jonu smith are a huge upgrade from Matt lacosse and Ryan Izzo. Yet so far we haven’t seen that translate to wins yet.

Nobody is giving us a chance in hell against the bucs, I just think the ceiling for this team is higher than most people think. The play calling has been atrocious, it’s all vanilla plays, no motion or anything like that. Teams know we have a rookie qb so they’re blitzing him on every other play. The coaching staff needs to keep this in mind.

Starting 1-2 is no cause for panic, as previous patriot teams have gotten it together in October. I think nothing would hurt Bill’s ego more than to lose to Brady at home and fall to 0-3 in home games and 1-3 on the year. I think it’s going to be closer than everyone thinks it’ll be.

1) It’s only the first three games of the season.

2) They are starting a rookie at QB and the rest of the offense is playing like dog sh.t. Harris is the only offensive player who has given him any help, and he can’t do it alone. The entire offense needs to step it up significantly to aid both Jones and the defense.

I have seen Brady led teams with less talent win but that’s too much to expect of Jones, and all you have to do to realize that is just look at what has happened to the other rookie Qb’s, who either haven’t been playing or sucking when they do.

As far as the season goes the only conclusion I have reached yet is that Dante Scarnecchia is truly irreplaceable. And when all is said and done I believe Jones will become a better QB through the adversity. At this point it’s up to Belichick, every other coach, and the rest of the team to start doing a much better job in every respect.

You do realize the Jets play in NJ?
You're wrong in so many ways.
You spelled jete wrong.
The team is in NY.
And they don't play football.

And it was always the same crowd doing so, and when they went on to win it all they said I was with them all the way.”

I would hope Mac improves with more experience as the year goes on but the schedule gets much tougher from here on out so I don't know how much the team as a whole will improve. Tampa, Dallas, a west coast trip to LAC, away against Carolina, Nick Chubb and a solid Browns team, short week on the road for TNF against Atlanta, Derrick Henry and the Titans, then still two games against the Bills. Unless Mac makes significant strides I can't see this team winning more than 6-7 games.

I think it’s the rest of the team that needs to step it up, and that Jones performance will improve if they do. So far the only receiver I have seen who looks good is Bourne, and James White, of course, but he’s no longer an option. Beyond that it’s all interconnected, a really good friend of mine had a luxury box seat to the Saints game and came back fuming at the defense, but when you looked at it holistically and recognized the the offense went 3 and out on the first three drives, and delivered the Saints 7 points on a giveaway by Smith you realize that it wasn’t so much the defense sucking as the offense screwing them. That doesn’t mean the defense can’t and shouldn’t play better, they should, and they must of this team has any hope this season, it just points out that it is usually not as simple as it may look.

I don't remember it that way. They admitted their mistake and took enough heat after the Pats won.

That's the funny thing about the Pats of the last two decades. In spite of the way they kept pulling out big game after big game we could still have doubts. We should have learned.

I did not bother reading through this entire thread but going just off the title - of course there have been worse teams that played much better because we had the GOAT. That is what the best QB in NFL history does for any org. He elevates everyone around him, including the coaches.
Mac is a rookie and is not the guy at all. He may one day develop into it or not but for now, he is just concentrating on his breathing. It is going to be a long haul for us to get anywhere close to where we were. I just want to see this team develop and not fall off the cliff as I am getting the sense that frustrations are mounting and the coaching just isn't there. This has a real chance to snow ball on us. Hopefully things get figured out over the next month and we start to see the Patriot football we are used to.
