The Bucs defense is swiss cheese right now so this one isn't completely over yet. I prefer the BB philosophy of prioritizing the secondary over elite pass rushers, and creating pressure in other ways. This is what it looks like when the rush can't be elite. The DC has no idea what to do. They have injuries but teams like WFT are having similar problems and they have a great coach. Maybe we can score 24? The problem for NE, is Tom Brady. I don't think they can stop him but we'll see.

Todd Bowles IMO is not a good DC at all. He just bangs his head over and over and over.

Just throwing this out there - since blocking is clearly a concern (guessing why inactive Rham recently - and JJ weighs 185), why not use 02 or 03 personnel with Asiasi or Jonnu (I'm over it - onto TB) lining up as running back? It's not like our RBs are fast, anyway.

I'm not qualified to agree or disagree but he seems to have a style that either works or doesn't. Not much adjustments. People loved the SB last year and the defensive players were awesome, but I didn't like KC and the QB's plan at all. That played right into it. Couple that with the fact that the TB Offense was scoring at will against most opponents keeping the pressure up on the opponents.

Spot on. It is amazing in a lot of ways that the Bucs won last year. The defense certainly played better during the second half of the Saints playoff game but the team was largely carried by Brady and the O and that looks to be the case this year as well. The difference is the secondary was not nearly as injured as it is this year. They will go as far as Brady and the O can carry them which is true of most of the elite teams except for the Rams and Niners as they are the 2 most complete teams right now IMO. Denver too but I am not sure they have enough to be there at the end.

Suuuuuuuure he didn’t. No long-term deal = no confidence that Brady would continue to play at a high level over the course of the deal. He was wrong. Now he’s just trying to revise history.
Yes and no. I’m sure BB wanted him back and was upset to see him go. He just wanted him back at his price ($20m) and his terms (1 year) and was shocked Brady didn’t go for it. He probably thought Brady was as entrenched here as David Ortiz was with the Red Sox and would eventually give in and follow the same approach.

I suspect if BB had his way, every player would be signed to a 1 year contract and paid only for how much he deems they contribute for the year. He’s made numerous statements publicly about not being afraid of free agency.

I’m not saying Bill was right, not at all, Brady’s performance easily shows that. But I think he truly believes what he‘s saying, that there is no QB he’d rather have and he didn’t want to see him go, but he just didn’t add that he wasn’t going to bend his roster construction approach for it. He screwed the pooch in this case and doesn’t want to say that part out loud.

I think one issue with the super bowl was the buccs played some cover 2 and the chiefs did not intend to use their run game at all. This combined with a injured O-Line from KC and a super hot buccs pass rush is just not a good outlook for an offense

All about matchups and Rams matchup well against the Bucs offensively and defensively. They probably matchup well with anybody the only concerning thing about the Rams is that they are really top heavy they have to hope that they have no injuries

Bowles was a horrible head coach, not sure yet about a dc, but when you have the talent that he has on that side of the ball, you better not be a liability. I was impressed with their defense in the playoffs last year, when I watched yesterday, it looked like their pass defense was suspect, but it's only one game.

I think in order to be successful against their defense, you need to be able to block their line and throw the ball down field. We'll see if we can do that.

That will certainly help. I heard that Brown has a little bit of a set back earlier in the week and they kind of knew it was a long shot for him to play yesterday, hoping this week he can suit up!!!

The Bucs pass rush has been underwhelming:

Barrett 11 pressures 1 sack 66th pass rush productivity
JPP 4 pressures 0 sacks 99th pass rush productivity
Tryon-Shoyinka 5 pressures 0 sacks 71st pass rush productivity
Suh 7 pressures 1 sack 46th pass rush productivity
Vea 9 pressures 0 sacks 30th pass rush productivity

Interesting. Maybe the OL has a chance this week.

The Bucs are still 2-1 despite some of their best players on paper not playing well so far. Clearly this means they’re frauds and they’ll never turn it around.

Now the 1-2 Pats on the other hand, obviously our best players on paper who aren’t playing well will turn it around.

I don't want Mac to get Andrew Luck'd. They have to protect the kid and there's no way we can answer any questions about him either way until that happens.

Pats will win.

I have forseen this.

I think there D is really not playing well, they are not helped by injuries. I think there is ways for us to take advantage of them. Tampa O is not a problem and they will score points.

the only way I can see the Pats winning is if Mac puts on a show. I don’t think we will win a low scoring game. What we need to do is what the Rams did yesterday. Take control of the game and make Tampa play from behind. They screwed up that yesterday. They had opportunities yesterday to do so (drop int and Gronk drop) and failed

McVay had a great plan. That being said, Brady had a great game but they had too many drives end with drops. The possession at the end of the half was a killer with the penalty and then the stupid fumble rule that you can't advance the fumble the last 2 minutes of the half or game.
