Pre game thread- On to New Orleans... wonder which Jameis Winston we'll get this Sunday?

Now I’m wondering if it has more to do with Uche’s injury, and this gives Hightower more flexibility to play on the edge this weekend.

Love Uche but he needs to stay healthy.

Who says it's about that? Could be because Adrian Phillips won't be there seeing is how he missed the last few days and is waiting for his child to be born.

He's not about to get hit. In fact, I believe that was the play were he got flagged for intentional grounding. He had time to throw it to a wide open Henry but he either didn't see him or got spooked.

Yes he is about to get hit. The DT is through the line, beat Onwenu and Mac is already moving off his spot.

It’s cover-3, the CB on the far side squatted on Meyers when he should’ve carried Henry; it was a blown coverage and you can see the single-high, MOF safety scrambling to get over to Henry (or at the very least, pointing out the blown coverage over there).

I’m not sure what you’re disagreeing with. I said Mac missed Henry.

My post was speculation:
“I’m wondering …”

I have no idea why he was promoted, just thinking out loud. Uche being added to the injury report seems to make just as much sense as Phillips potentially missing the game, although I hadn’t considered the Phillips’ scenario you mentioned.

I’m not sure what you’re even arguing or disagreeing with. I said Mac missed Henry.

It’s also really hard to do a complete analysis without seeing what occurred prior to and after that still image.

That was one of the plays that J.T. O’Sullivan analyzed and I recall him concluding that Mac went through his progression fairly well and made a good/smart decision based on what he could see. Just one person’s perspective, though.

Obviously I’d love to see Mac hit that play but there are always a lot of variables to consider and weigh.

I saw an analysis that showed he had ample time to throw it to Henry. Here's another one of Henry in end zone, wide open, with no throw. I mean Mac acknowledged himself that he left downfield plays on the field. It's obvious to people analyzing these plays. It is what it is.

I just re-watched that play. If Mac had stayed on the right side of his read for a split second longer he probably would’ve seen Henry break open, but he came back left.

He was indeed about to get hit and when watching the remainder of that play from where the still frame was taken, Mac immediately starts to square his shoulders and move to his left in order to avoid the DT who beat Onwenu in the A-gap.

But yeah, had Mac stayed on the right side a bit longer, he would’ve likely hit Henry, which you’d like to see him do.

Can you share the analysis you found showing ample time to throw it to Henry?

He had time to get the ball there, no doubt, but he absolutely was about to get hit had he hung in there much longer; the DT was clean through the A-gap.

This is another one that O’Sullivan analyzed.

His take on this play is that it was a smart decision by Mac. He’s guessing the protection was set such that the free blitzer was intentionally unaccounted for per the protection, and essentially that guy is Mac’s responsibility. Getting it out hot was a smart decision per O’Sullivan. I’ll post the video when I’m back on my desktop.

To be clear, I don’t know if that’s an accurate analysis, but that was his take. He seemed quite positive about Mac after the NYJ game.

Tavai was extended 53 signing and it was a matter of time until they activated him.
It will be interesting to see if he also enters ILB rotation instead of Langi.
ILB play was underwhelming over 2 weeks to put it kindly. Maybe heavier rotation could help a bit.

Starts at 10:50, he came off his 1st read instead of hanging in the pocket and making the throw to a wide open Henry.

He's gonna light up this Pats defense. Who can catch him and Kamara? Anyone fast enough??

I’m fine with it, as long as we win, but this was funny..

Contain Kama and they should be okay.

O-line needs to step up tomorrow.

I am more concerned about the Saints Defense. I do not know what winston even is. They looked like world beaters then the coaching staff all caught covid and they got reamed. NOt sure how this game will go.
