I think it's far more a case of him just not being NFL ready than just that one "fumble." More concerning are the blitz pickups he blew- he got flattened on one.

He'll get another chance, just not today.
This. The fumble was debatable, but he almost ended Mac's season when he got run over by Roberts. Stevenson will be in the doghouse until he proves he can consistently block.

Thing is, harris isn't great at blitz pickup either. If you look at the touchdown pass to agholor, he completely whiffs. Mac just beat the defense on his own. Either Harris or Stevenson HAVE to be active, and harris has earned it.

Hopefully JJ can be better.

Except that Taylor can't pass protect to save his life. And Taylor isn't nearly the punishing RB that Stevenson is..

As for the Pass protection, if he's in the game, you don't have him pass protect. You have him run with the ball or go out to the flat to be the safety valve. We have other people who can block. Also I find the idea of a 'punishing RB' highly overrated. I care that an RB is effective. Everything else is window dressing. Is McCaffrey punishing? Was Marshall Faulk Punishing? Was Sanders punishing? Get yards, screw everything else.

I find it amazing how fans try to talk their way out of putting dynamic players on the field cause they can't do X well or they don't play a particular style they like. Not to say JJ has proven crap yet. But I just don't can't about anything else he can't do, as long as we don't ask him to do it. I care about what he can do. And I think he can make big plays for us.

What's up with KVN??
The others are not a surprise. Not sure how good Asiasi is if he can't get on the field as TE#3 to spell the 2 studs.
He's been on the injury report all week.

I feel like Mac is just trying to be the perfect team mate and is in full prove himself mode. Not unusually for a young guy just starting out and trying to establish himself in a room full of vets in any profession. I doubt he keeps this up for more then a year, but it's not a bad look at all. It shows he wants to earn their respect. I just hope once he does and he feels at home in that locker room he can keep some of that same fire and earnestness. Though I would hope in a more tame manner. Acting this exact same way at year 5 would be a bit cringy lol.

Wasn't Mac running laps/sprints with the OL a few weeks ago when he didn't have to? I don't recall Brady ever doing that...

I want Gunner returning punts and JJ kicks...every game.

4 fumbles at JuCo. Cerritos College Athletics

His fumbles at OU must be classified. Not even listed on the OU Sooners page.
Good point! The other day when comparing Stephenson's college fumbles to Damien Harris (who fumbled once every 180 carries at Alabama) I was trying to look Stephenson's fumbles at OU. I couldn't find that information anywhere, it appears to be some type of state secret, just like you observed ;)

Although I didn't watch him personally, supposedly his fumbling was a problem at Oklahoma but his pass protection was really good, but both looked pretty bad in limited time in his first NE game.
Idk where you heard this. He wasn't experienced or savvy at all. He has reps there but wasn't used a ton in pass pro. And that's the key, he doesn't have a ton of experience. Especially in PA, he hesitates. I mentioned it a few times after the pick, in his thread but the urgency and technique weren't there coming out. He's not bad in some situations but needs a ton of work in pass pro.

Need a win here.

0-2 imo wouldnt be season ending since Buffalo lost week 1, but starting 0-2 with a rookie? I don't want to see it.
0-2 wouldn’t end the season but this is by far the most winnable game in the next 3. Have to take advantage.

Once again, I can’t watch the game!! I get to watch the Raiders vs Steelers. Not a bad game, but it’s looking like I won’t see the game until October! So sad.

Thing is, we really don't have any runners who can block. White can, but in order to run effective PA you have to have a running threat on the field. I guess what I'm saying is we shouldn't be upset if White runs the ball a lot.

Why are you posting s*** like this on the gameday threads? Seriously dude, let your raging hate obsession flow on another thread to derail.

Not this one.

Yes. He is going above and beyond of what is typical young earnestness. Good for him. I don't mean to down play it, it's nice to see. But being a great teammate by itself doesn't put W's on your record. While it's nice to see and it's a good story, running laps with the OL doesn't make you toss the ball any better. I'm a believer in the value of QB leadership, and how players on the team appreciate a guy who isn't all about himself. A guy they will run through a wall for. That's all real. But A QB's job is to be a QB. running suicide springs up and down a hill all afternoon may get your teammates appreciation, but maybe that time would be better spent working on his craft? There are limits to everything. I don't want Jones so hung up on trying to prove himself that he takes time and energy away from him job.

Not a criticism, as I don't think he's done that. Just pointing out that being the best teammate ever doesn't win you super bowls, but being a bad one can cause issues.. Ask Tebow about one and Marino about the other.

Mac seems to be live or die with each game. I don’t mind that but I wouldn’t expect that intensity for a whole season.
