Need to have better starts for sure. But, if they can't beat the Jets, this team is far worse than I suspected.
I am one that doesn't get the Wilson hype. If you look at his college tape, all the highlights are vs low quality opponents which is a major red flag for me. So, for this strange pandemic world we live in, it seems even the analysis on him as a superior prospect over Jones, I'll never know. He reminds me of a combo between Cutler and Flacco. Really nice arm, but not quite accurate as of yet, especially throwing when he scurries out of the pocket immediately. To me, he plays small and scared. He's a long way from rolling out and waiting for one of his WRs to break open downfield at BYU vs Coastal Carolina. I think the Jets did it again, which is hilarious.
I watched him last week and he was just awful against a weak Carolina team that is rebuilding. Don't let the 2 TDs fool you. He was horrible.
IMO, you defend him like BB always defended the mobile QBs, like Ben or a Mahomes, and that is, make sure he can't get right. Do whatever you need to do, which is to me, a 3-4 look and Van Noy/Guy setting that edge wide, engaged, not necessarily always looking to rush, and then run some delayed stunts up the middle when he drops back.
Take away the preferred and easy slants that all young QBs want to it including Tua last week where I couldn't figure out why BB wasn't doing that. One of the few headscratchers from last weekend.
Put JC on Davis and watch out for Kroft. He's good. They should be able to handle the other WRs and backs. The Jets just aren't very good on paper or anywhere.
Also, their O Line is hot garbage. I don't get the praise for Joe Douglas either. They overspent on one dimensional, oft-injured talent and some of those guys are also predictably hurt already. And, they put all this capital into their OL and they still suck. It's the Jets. And, their coach is a first time head coach who the media has been acting like is some future legendary coach and we have no idea if he will succeed or not.
1. Start faster on both sides of the ball.
2. Clean up the penalties.
3. Clean up the ball security.
