These practice reports are exacerbating my 2020 PTSD. No amount of playbook review can cure what ails Cam as a passer

I cannot…watch…that…sh*t…again…this…year.

I love you Bill. Don’t make me hurt you. For the love of God, don’t stubbornly stick with Cam.

For New England, Mike is a dual threat....

What does this mean…I don’t get it.

It never made much sense…it made sense in 2020 only because of the pennies on the dollar contract. No idea why you bring back a guy whose game is at odds with the entire offensive philosophy.

I love these dual practices. Both teams will get more out of them (reps, development and evaluation), than they would in 2 or 3 practices alone.
I think you are dead on about Harry. He rarely got separation in college, so to expect him to get here is ludicrous. Very curious pick given that THIS offense is so predicated at throwing to the "open" receiver. But on the other hand the "back shoulder" throw IS something the Pats have done regularly over the years, so expanding that concept shouldn't be THAT hard. But you are right, he can't show what he can do if they don't throw him the ball.

When Sony came out of college he had the rep of having very good hands. I think they rarely threw to him because they had James White for that job and he did it at a very high level, Now that James seems to be winding down the focus might turn to Sony, who I think might be an upgrade since his would be a better runner from both scrimmage and after the catch, If he is willing to take a James White type contract next year he MIGHT be the replacement BTW James had a sup par year last season, and isn't lighting it up at camp so far. Could HE be one of the surprise cuts, since Stephenson reportedly also has good hands. Just a thought,

You aren't paranoid when everyone is out to get you. That's Cam Newton by this time. The media is acting like Brady never threw a receiver into a big hit. And while he was good at NOT doing that (as the years went on) he DID do it. The media is acting like Newton committed a crime. But that is because the media has an agenda (I believe) and that is to hype the kid and denigrate the vet. Jones is the shiny new toy and everyone wants to play with it right away. I trust in Bill and his 50 years in the league to pick the time of his ascension. Jones IS the future. No doubt about that. Sitting a year didn't hurt Mahomes, and sitting THREE years didn't hurt Rodgers. Sitting a few game or even a year is NOT going to hurt Jones

Agholar is going to be a pleasant surprise for the Pats. But I think fans better get used to the idea that he will occasionally drop one. Fans accepted Julian even though he was usually among the leaders in dropped balls. I thing the end result will be that he will be a plus for this offense.

Can't wait for the next practice and the game on Thursday.,
Good post as always, Ken.

Maybe sitting Mahomes and Rodgers didn’t hurt them (other than their egos), but maybe it did hurt their teams.

If Cam has been decent last year, nobody would try to hype the rookie. But he was so bad that nobody want to have the same experience again and Cam showed me nothing in this TC that he will be better than last year and the rookie looks to be better than Cam.

I’m sorry but KC and the GB had very good QB in place. We haven’t. Sitting a year wasn’t the difference between a career of mediocrity and an hall of famer for Mahomes. He would have been good even if he played his first year.
Agree totally. If Brady were still the quarterback, Mac could definitely learn from the GOAT by patrolling the sidelines, but with Cam as the qb? I can see Josh and Mac standing next to one another during a game. Josh says to Mac, "Don't do that, Cam's holding the ball too long." Next play, "Don't do that, Cam didn't point out the mike." Third down, "Don't do that, don't throw the ball into the dirt on a swing pass."

Unfortunately, I have the feeling that it is exactly what he will do.

This is hilarious and terrible but I laughed out loud.
Way to go.

Cam wasn't bad before the brain fog last year. I just don't trust him after that.
Yes he was. He was bad before it and he was asymptomatic so this fog thing is just another excuse.

Reminds me of this…..

There’s a reason you lost your job, Drew…..

He's always had accuracy problems and holds the ball too long but he wasn't bad. In no way shape or form do I believe he was asymptomatic...unless you're believing the incredibly inaccurate injury reports the past 20 years. Post covid Cam is bad...lets leave it at that.

He was bad all year except for one half against the worst pass d in the league.

Well, Cam himself said he was asymptomatic.

When I say he wasnt bad..I mean the totallity of his career before brain fog. His injuries didn't help either.

I’m talking about last year.
But as a traditional QB, in the pocket, seeing and understanding what is developing, reacting and delivering passes he has always stunk.
The skills he had to be effective despite that are gone and outside of 1 or 2 seasons he wasn’t all that effective any way.
